How do we know this stuff is only made in Russia? Because the Brit Govt. says so?

People who inform themselves through independent sources know that there are also news from Russia. The Russian Public Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation against British authorities on suspicion of poisoning a Russian citizen with chemical weapons. This is easily possible because Scripal's daughter has the Russian citizenship.

But that's not the interesting part. The really interesting thing is that Russia can now initiate an official OPCW procedure on this basis. The OPCW, in turn, can force the UK government to submit its non-existent evidence.

Man, it will be fun to watch May & Co. drown in their own blood. My popcorn is ready.

I don't think Russia was prepared for us to be so forthright, we have a reputation of being too soft, gentile and easily rolled over - well this Lion is roaring and won't be tamed this time and I don't think Putin expected this. It is said we can counteract anything they throw at us - that remains to be seen. We demand respect now and so far this is working with backing from the UN, NATO and the EU.

It's not evidence. Despite official requests, they have given nothing for testing, so all we have is their word, which given their record is worth precisely.... ?

I'm far away, of letting the Russian Government from the hook. The Poison is manufactured in Russia with no doubts. And those manufactures aren't build somewhere in the kitchen of a dingbat scientists.
And in similar cases - does somebody remember at the two high-tower explosions in Moscow(?), which were opening reason for the second Chechens war, Putin reacted the same way cold blooded and brutally, as he has possibly learned it during his KGB-education.

But at first is valid in this case the presumed innocence, until no other evidences has been shown up.

Cool

A Romanian court has rejected a man’s claim that he is alive after his wife officially registered him as dead, saying that the decision cannot be reversed.

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/16/w...-dead-man.html

So I m assuming if he kills her or someone else he cannot be trialled because he is officially dead and could not have done it

Poison Puzzle: How Did Attackers Get Nerve Agent?

Quote:
That publicity led its chemical structure to be leaked, making it readily available for reproduction elsewhere, said Ralf Trapp, a France-based consultant on the control of chemical and biological weapons.
Quote:
“The chemical formula has been publicized and we know from publications from then-Czechoslovakia that they had worked on similar agents for defense in the 1980s,” he said. “I’m sure other countries with developed programs would have as well.”

I don't think the Russians did it. This is too sloppy and all the signs point back to Russia. This is a false flag. What makes more sense? Kill with a knife, gun, baseball bat, ice-pick, bomb, garotte, epic kung-fu skills, a sock filled with quarters or a stapler.

Nope, too easy. Let's go to the trouble of transporting Nerve Agent, inherently dangerous to everyone around it, requires special logistics to get in and out of the country, special handling to deploy, can't assure the targets death, and likely cause collateral damage and deaths.

Oh yes, and let's make sure we use a Nerve Agent which can most definitely be traced back to the Soviet Union. Turn it into a huge international incident.

If this was the Russians, and I were Putin, than I would have the whole group responsible killed for being a national embarrassment. On the other hand, it benefits the UK Government. It fits the "Stop Brexit" narrative. It stops US - Russian Relations improving.

The Bare -
A well-argued post. I especially like your point that it can't assure the target's death. A similar point was made against those who claimed that Princess Diana was murdered: a car crash is not a reliable way of killing somebody, and would not be used by a secret service.

However, the argument against you is that the Russian state, or Putin himself, do not think like us! They more or less got away with the murder of Litvinenko, and years ago Bulgaria more or less got away with the (tip of the umbrella) poisoning of a dissident in England, so, they think, We can do this, too!. And - they're thugs. This will intimidate Russian double agents and dissidents and emigrants all over the world.

[Added a bit later: It occurs to me that if it was the Russian secret service - killing him was not necessary - leaving him crippled would be just as good.]
