I'm surprised there aren't more posts about this recent ransomware scam. It is becoming more prevalent it seems to me. It's making it less fun to surf for porn! which is a bummer.

Like you, the only way I've found to deal with it once it hits is to power down the machine, f-8 for start up options, and use the system restore to go back to an earlier date. This is not a process that a lot of people know about, I think. The system restore has not resulted in me losing any data or other things on my computer.

There are probably some who send the extontionists the money. I've not heard if that works or not.
