Laura Antonelli was born Laura Antonaz on 28 November 1941 in Pola, Istria, Italy (now Pula, Istria, Croatia).

Laura Antonelli appeared in 45 movies between 1965 and 1991.

Originally a school teacher, Antonelli began acting on the Italian television series Carosello and made her first film in 1965.

She appeared in a number of sex farces but she worked in more serious films as well.

She won the Donatello Prize in 1973 and 1981 and the Italian National Syndicate of Film Journalists Award in 1974.

She was a guest at the Cannes Film Festival and the Berlin International Film Festival.

Here is a (very) short list of her most notable films:
- 16 Year Olds (1965) her first film;
- Dr. Goldfoot and the Girl Bombs (1966);
- La Rivoluzione sessuale (1968);
- Satyricon (1969) directed by Federico Fellini, loosely based on Petronius's work;
- Le Malizie di Venere (1969);
- The Archangel (1969), a comedy film directed by Giorgio Capitani and starring Vittorio Gassman;
- Il merlo maschio (1971);
- The Married Couple of the Year Two (1971), a French comedy film that was entered into the 1971 Cannes Film Festival;
- Peccato veniale (1973);
- Malizia (1973), a very successful Italian comedy film that was entered into the 23rd Berlin International Film Festival;
- The Divine Nymph (1975), an Italian drama film starring Laura Antonelli, Marcello Mastroianni, Michele Placido and Terence Stamp;
- La Venexiana (1986);
- L'Avaro (1989);
- Malizia 2000 (1991), her last film.

She also made small TV appearances.

Now Laura Antonelli, aged 69, almost 70, lives in a small flat in Ladispoli located 40 kilometers from Rome.

She has turned to religion and lives a simple life, refusing to meet journalists, going outside only to hear mass at her local church.

A TV series based on her life is currently in a state of project.
