[MB Followup] 1971 mayfair cover girl - Page 2

buying some vintage issues of mayfair like i have on ebay just lately it seems when they get to the december issue they have a round up of all that years girls over about 8 pages or so .

anyhow earlier on in the year Leena Skoog of 4 dimensions of greta fame was a cover star and centrespread .

what do you think ?
same strawberry blonde ,same slightly upturned nose and even photographed on a similar white cushion for the earlier mayfair shoot ?

heres some random shots of her and the mayfair white cushion shots
if you go from that head shot of her on the cushion and then go straight to the december no 12 issue of mayfair there is a remarkable similarity

edit ..shes not wearing any nail polish on the cover of mayfair and also isnt in the earlier white sofa shots .
im fairly certain ive found my girl .
i want to watch the 4 dimensions of greta again now !

It might be Leena Skoog but I've yet to see/find any compelling linkage? Can you show any pics. of her with bangs, like mystery has? I couldn't find any in her thread--did I simply overlook them?

The seat shown under the Mayfair cover model is not the same as the sofa cushions shown in Leena's Mayfair 06-02, 1971-02 pictorial. The former may be a beanbag or similar. It has a shiny plastic or vinyl-like look to it whereas the sofa cushions are furry & matt. Leena's hair when sitting on the sofa looks unlike mystery's with the bangs.

Mystery's eyes are brown. Leena's are blue--compare respective Mayfair covers in Mayfair index thread.

I found the mag for sale online so have bought it .
cheaper than it went for on eBay !
hopefully it'll mention who their cover star was !
I'll let everyone know either way when it arrives .

in the meantime while I wait for the mag this cover of her from king in Nov 70 looks similar in stark white backgrounds .
Mayfair bought out king in 68 but have obviously kept the name active in foreign markets .
perhaps they used a photo from that shoot for the cover of Mayfair .

I have TOC scans for some Mayfair issues. The TOC pages for Mayfair 06-12, 1971-12 has a small picture of Lorraine Gilbey but no mention/credit for who is on the cover. Maybe it says elsewhere in the issue but sadly I suspect it may not.

At times Mayfair did give a cover model credit on the TOC page but not always.

Magazine arrived in outstanding condition for its age today but when Mayfair do a round up of the year in vol 6 they remember the girls of vol5 ???
They've done that elsewhere in other mags I've recently bought like issue 12 of vol 12 featuring a round up of the girls of vol 11 ???
So I'm still not sure who she is .
She certainly resembles the two girls featured that month ( only two girls back then ,Mayfair was like playboy in those days ) but is far prettier .
I'm still thinking leena skoog but not 100% sure.

I've also bought the mag featuring her from 71 so will look for similarities when it turns up
Also when looking through vol 5 ( not vol6 ,why did they jump back a year like that ? ) of mayfair on creamcheese for clues I came across this other strawberry blonde on a white couch ????
Could it be her ?

More (& larger) pics. of Virginia Kemp from Mayfair 05-04, 1970-04 here. She has brown eyes like mystery and face seems very similar. Only problem is her lack of mystery's bangs. If mystery is her the photo. must have been taken at some other time.

now that the other magazine has arrived i dont think mystery girl is leena skoog .
it seems common practice back then for mayfair to have a cover girl that didnt feature in the magazine so this one will probably stay a mystery

not really a solution but she looks a hell of a lot like pamela courson .
jim morrisons girlfriend .
jim died in 71 so she would be really newsworthy when that mag was published .
did they do recreational grieving back then ?
probably not .
but she does have that sort of look about her
