The team would really like to get a couple of guys going who could get on base often in front of their power guys. But damn, watching a bunch of .230 -.250 hitters and waiting for a home run is like watching paint dry.

Ten pitchers have started at least 5 games for the A's this year. Five of those guys are now on the DL, two are back in the minors, and one is Brett Anderson, back in the rotation until his next injury. Bob Melvin really earns his paycheck with this staff.
Wow, did this team ever make me wrong. They are 18-7 since Matt Chapman came off the disabled list. Oddly, they couldn't score runs in Colorado of all places. The starting pitching seems to like having a team that can score a bunch of runs for them and their bullpen is tough. Funny, Khris Davis doesn't look like Harmon Killebrew, but the numbers are eerily similar.

Meanwhile, the baseball gods continue to punish the Giants for lavishing $20 million a year long term contracts on Cueto and Samardzjia. One might have thought that the Matt Cain contract taught them something.

The Padres continue their nose dive, having gone 5 and 20 during July. They are on a pace now to end up with a 62 and 100 record...

They have really had buzzards' luck with injuries this year. Too many guys have wound up trying to gut it out with injuries, too. The baseball gods are still punishing A.J Preller for his hubris. Perhaps, you could burn him at the stake to appease them. I would be willing to throw in Brian Sabean and Bobby Evans for a real auto-de-fe

Default Monday in the NL West

The Padres cut bait with Tyson Ross and bring up a reliever from AAA El Paso. Time to see if the guys who've been better in small samples can be part of next year's rotation.

The Giants are still pretending that they're in the hunt, but they don't appear to have much left in the farm system. The talk shows are debating "Is it time to deal Madison Bumgarner for prospects?"

Damn, this is not going to be fun trying to compete with the Dodgers.

I can't believe the way the A's are playing since I was on double secret probation. If the A's and Mariners keep the Yankees out of the playoffs I may have the greatest orgasm of my life. It was a little bit of heaven watching the Red Sox beat them every way imaginable the last 4 nights.

The Mets too, have been hit hard by injuries (just like last season). They started the season 11-1, and we fans had World Series fantasies running through our heads. Since then, and in part due to all the injuries, they've lost about twenty-five games more than they've won. The good news is;

The NFL season starts in a month!

The Mets could do a major auto-da-fe. Fred Wilpon, Saul Katz, Omar Minaya, John Ricco, and J.P. Ricciardi going up in smoke as an appeasement to the baseball gods, or Mets fans, at least. Sandy Alderson gets a pass since his cancer has returned.

As for the NFL, you realize that Vegas has the Giants projected at 7-9 and the Jets at 6-10, don't you? Just sayin'

They have the Raiders at 8-8, but somehow I don't think they will do that well. But then again, they do get two games against both Denver and the Chargers. Even the Chiefs are questionable.

I'd love to see the Mets get new ownership, but I don't see it happening anytime soon.

I'm not concerned about the Giants and the Jets. Even though I live in New York, I've been a Rams fan for decades. After the success of last season, I'm excited to see how far they can go this year.

Default Only 24 games until the playoffs start.

The San Francisco Giants outfielders combined have produced about as many WAR as one legitimate starter. Most of that was provided by the recently traded Andrew McCutchen.

Hunter Pence is in the last year of his contract, thankfully. Pence wanted to play here and was a decent player for awhile, but the last 2 years have been ugly as he provided negative value.

I would feel better about the A's if the playoff starters were not Mike Fiers, Edwin Jackson, Trevor Cahill, and Daniel Mngden. That is, if they can stay healthy. But, the Astros are going to have to work hard to stay atop the division next year.

Angry

If the Houston Astros lose the next game and gets eliminated, it will be all because of this fan.

https://abc13.com/sports/fan-weighs-...call-/4506590/

Not the first time something like this has happened in a MLB game.

Fucking dumb asses fans.

It's like being on a public transportation bus: do not extend your arms and any other limbs outside of the bus through the windows.

If you continue to do so and ignore the instructions of the bus drive, you will be asked to disembark the bus.

Same thing should apply when they are in their seats at a MLB game:

any fans who extend their arms and limbs outside of the purview area of their seats and interfere with the outcome of the game or with the players on the field, they will be asked to leave and banned from ever attending another MLB game that season and if they have any tickets for any future games they have already purchased, not only do those tickets get voided, they also don't get a refund.
