Without taking anything away from a solid all-round performance from England it was all too easy for them.
Pakistan were are shadow of the team from the first Test. At least Bayliss keeps his job as test coach for another couple of games at least. India should not be quite so easy but in English conditions they are not so great either. Footnote: Commiserations to those holding a ticket for the fourth day. |

What I also find pleasing is that our debutante players have performed very creditably. Sam Curran has two wickets, even if one was a catch in the deep (very well taken by Dawid Malan incidentally). Dom Bess finally got a worthwhile bowl, even if it only lasted 11 overs, and 3/33 is a fine return for such a new boy. I can see a future in which he and Jack Leach could potentially be our best spin pairing since Emburey and Edmonds; but its far too early to be depending on such a lucky break. But Bess is clearly the genuine article, however raw and inexperienced; and his faults are faults which time will cure.
I am much happier than I was after the Lords debacle. But Pakistan haven't suddenly become rubbish; their inexperience showed in a very high pressure situation on a bowling wicket, that's all. Whenever we meet them again at the UAE a different face of things will be seen.

But wouldn't you rather have a day at the cricket?

Sorry. I just wet my self.
Congrats to Scotland. Yeah. Scotland who practically hold up the bottom of the ODI table have managed to beat England who hold the top spot. Good batting performance and kept taking wickets at vital times. But just how many did England gift them ? As for the test tickets for no play I always thought that refunds only applied for no play due to weather. |

Very well done Scotland. You can make all kinds of excuses but the gritty Scotland team did what they had to do.
I think the turning point came when Hales ran out Root. Hales looks so nervous batting, I think his time as passed. Why do teams keep picking Billings? Is Buttler injured? Some good performances and Scotland better on the day. |

Don't think England's problems today was the batting. The seam bowling was non-descript and as hinted at by Morgan didn't follow the game plan!

Can it get any worse? Losing to Scotland? Ireland and The Netherlands must be rubbing their hands in glee. At this rate the England test team couldn't have won the Benson & Hedges Cup..
