Very ambitious going for Bielsa, former Argentine, Athletic Bilbao and Marseille boss.
Bielsa, the primary target to replace Heckingbottom, has been called 'the best coach in the world' by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola. Mauricio Pochettino called him his 'football father' last year.

Had Sir Bobby been manager of England after Sir Alf two things would have happened, 1) we would have always qualified, 2) no other nation would have lifted the trophy.

The real niggle is though the FA avoiding anyone with a "Reputation"

As an England fan, Big Jack managing the ROI is a real slap in the face, I just wonder what he could have achieved with England, like Ramsey, square pegs in round holes, Ball, Hurst & Stiles.

Half time England 2 Nigeria 0. Some nice passing from England, apart from Sterling who wasted everything in the box. Nigeria are all over the place at the back.
The main thing is the scummy away fans who are booing England and Alli in particular. It sticks in the craw because 99% of them will live round the corner. Just like when we played Ghana back in 2011 you want to scream at them to fuck off back to their own country if that's how they feel.

As you might know, Big Jack would have loved to have managed England. He wouldn't have tolerated any superstars and would have got some team spirit going, probably over a pint. He never thought he'd be in with a chance due , like Cloughie, to being too outspoken and would have wanted to run things his way or no way.
Then he was approached informally by the FA when the job became vacant (this was prior to his Irish odessey). They asked him to apply, seeing that he was a leader and a highly qualified coach with success at club level. So, taking the hint, he applied. He never even got a reply.

That speaks volumes for the FA - and all to the benefit of the Irish.

Effin', effin', effin'. I recorded Austria vs Germany this evening because it clashed with the England game. Sat down to watch it an hour ago and it seems that the game was delayed. I only got the first half hour in which Germany took the lead. I've just checked the result and I missed Austria beating Germany for only the third time since 1931. Watching South Africa v Wales in the rugby now and tempted to get up for Scotland v Mexico football match at 1am. Eleven days to go till the World Cup.

The three of them, sterling, welbeck and rashford are better at tackling themsleves than the opposition is. Just have a shot for god's sake.

Vardy must sit there wondering if he has to get a move to a 'big' club to get on the pitch. I share his despair. Kane apart, he's the only one who would currently cause the opposition any discomfort. He could even be our Toto Scillaci. He's 'andsome enough...

Young demonstrated that whatever he is, he's not an international full back and no longer has the legs at this level, nor the experience as a fullback to cope. He'd get torn a new one against anyone decent. Delph would be a better back-up for Rose. Please tell me that Rose is still first choice?

Cahill looked sound but needs to be played in the centre, alongside McGuire. I'd move Stones out wide...no, wider... a bit further...keep going...and sit down with the other subs, please. Perfect. He still is a 'when' rather than 'if' he's going to make a critical mistake for no good reason. He worries me.

My only comment on Yesterday's game is Nigeria gave us the freedom of Wembley in the first half, I was surprised none of ours took the opportunity to run up the stairs to the presentation area and view the game before returning to the fray.

Worryingly a few in the media were suggesting playing Walker in a back three, with Trippier at RB. Hopefully Southgate was busy with the FA suites.

My favourite quote from yesterday was this from Mr Waddle.

"I don't think we got a lot of answers though because Nigeria just lay down in the first period and let England do what they want."

Someone needs to remind Chris 'Our players have no talent' Waddle that he only scored 6 goals in 62 internationals. John Terry (6) Gary Cahill (5) Tony Adams (5). He sort of gets a pass with me because one was against Scotland and another was a winner in the then Soviet Union. But I wish he'd shut his trap.

My man, Jack Charlton, managed 6 goals in 35 matches. I was there for his last one, the winner against Portugal in 1969, from a corner taken by his bro'.

To date, Raheem Sterling, allegedly a goalscorer, has 2 in 38 matches.

They really don't make them like they used to.
