Here, here! I agree with MikeLCI, dick1138 and Mr. Bungle, too. Eroticism is more about the mind than it is about explicitness. The turn on is the shared and private moment which becomes more than what was planned/stagged, what was hinted at and not shown completely in graphic detail. The mystery which sparks the imagination. That is where P*house excelled, that's what kept the readers returning. Anyone it seems can photograph or film porn (whitness the vast number of sites on the Inet today), few can actually do it well. Most of the women in porn today (even though they are atractive, incredibly well built, and willing to do and show anything) really in the end just seem tired, lifless, and plastic. Thank goodness for this site!!

Default February 1994

Sorry for not having better info, but I'm working off of memory: Can anyone post a set, I believe from the February 1994 issue, possibly with the names Wendy and Michael? I seem to remember some of the shots being in the shower, if that helps at all.

That's pretty good info, IMO: There is a Feb/94 set, featuring "Wendy & Michael", called 'Moonlighting'.

Hello, Ladies and Gents. This evening we reach back to May 1975 to present "On the Beach" pages 54-63. The woman is the now famous photographer Suze Randall. Enjoy the show.

Does anyone have "Romancing the bride"? It appeared in the June 1991 issue, with Julie Strain on the cover.

This was the issue: http://www.wonderclub.com/magazines/...p?u=PENT199106

This was a bit of a comedown for Persuad, as she was POTM for April/87, then a runner-up for Pet Of The Year, leading to another spread in Feb/89.

Here's a couple of things to keep an eye out for (from '75 & '78):

I owned one of 'em (I think the first). The mists of time make it impossible to remember the contents, but likely the layouts were all reprints, though they possibly/probably had alternate photos.

Update:The contents of the '78 issue:

10: GADJA: THE SERPENT
21: 1876
32: KEN MARCUS: CLASS REUNION
50: THE HOUSEBREAKERS
43: JEFF DUNAS: THE FRIENDS
60: LOVE IN THE AFTERNOON
71: THE CASTAWAYS
81: MINDAS: THREE'S COMPANY
95: ROBERT FARBER: MOULIN ROUGE
106: PATRICK BARNES: SWEPT AWAY
112: EARL MILLER: THE SPIDER AND THE FLY
122: MIRROR IMAGE
129: THE DUEL

To give you an idea of how scarce these are (they were news stand specials, BTW), one site is asking $95 for one.

Holy shit, $95 each? I'll take $75 each for mine; talk about a bargain!

Seriously, I wish to Krishna I'd laid in a few extras, back in the day, but whoever expected to be still alive in 2009, let alone that anyone else alive would have any interest whatever in snatch mags from the 70s?

As for the content, almost everything I could compare seemed to be identical -- straight reprints from the mags. The second volume was all P*nthouse-derived, I think, but the first one included several pictorials from early issues of Viva (translation: a lot more dick shots). One of them, a J Fred Smith shoot in and out of 18th century costume, was missing a pic or two in the reprint.

Okay, I'm remembering a little bit more, thanks to your info. I recall a couple of the features were new to me, and were fairly wang-centric, so I assumed they were unused (P-House) layouts. Obviously, those were the 'Viva' pictorials. One was a couple on a beach, then back at the hotel. There was one shot, with the woman preparing to reverse-cowgirl (they were in a chair), that had the guy's semi-hard junk on full display. Nothing like what you would see in the key mag.

Pulled these out of the box today.

First volume is labeled "Penthouse Loving Couples" on the cover but "Penthouse/Viva Loving Couples Part I" on the title page. It features these sets, about 2/3 of which appear to be of Viva origins:

1. "On the Beach" (Earl Miller). Beautiful long-haired blonde and hairy-crotch guy, in and out of swimwear, in a seaside cave and in the surf. She touches his dick in one shot, so it's undoubtedly a Viva set. (Also sharper-focused than the usual Penthouse B/G shoot of those days.)
2. "Hands/Hands" (Earl Miller). This is from Penthouse; I'm almost positive I used to have that issue. Closeups of body parts, erogenous and non-erogenous; the models retain their anonymity.
3. "Mountain Retreat" (Earl Miller). Kinda dark B/G set in the woods and in a cabin; I think this was from Penthouse, despite an unusual (for PH c1975) look at the guy's limp dick.
4. "Bawdy Bathers" (Jeff Dunas). This is definitely from PH, as it's another I used to have. Joyce Gibson takes a bath with two guys, one of whom is a dead ringer for my grad school housemate.
5. "Suzanna and Eddie" (Jeff Dunas). This is from Viva. A friend's wife had that ish and used to show it to everybody who came to the house. "No wonder some guys feel inadequate!" she'd always say. Couple m.o. in the woods and in a cabin, and he has a dick down to his knee.
6. "The Bust" (Wu Tze Chiu). Two cops bust a street hooker, take her to a hotel with hourly rates for some threeway, and she ends up leaving them handcuffed together. Gotta be Viva.
7. "Secrets from My Diary" (J Frederick Smith). 18th century couples story, with hot petite chick in white stockings and a guy in a Scotch bonnet. This comes from one of the first 2 or 3 ish of Viva; I have it in a box somewhere. The reprint is a page or so short, though as I recall, it was male genitalia-centered pix omitted.
8. "New York Story" (J Frederick Smith). Very cute shorthair gamine and her b.f., aspiring actors, relax in their apartment. She checks out his thing and touches it in 2 or 3 shots. This is from a fairly early Viva, which I used to have at one time.
9. "Yvette & Terry" (J Frederick Smith). Cute mulatta and guy in a 'do-rag on the beach and in a hammock. Double-page of her reaching around to pet his soft dick marks this as a Viva shoot.
10. "Time of Her Time" (Tim Perior). Girl is semi-familiar to me but I can't place a name. This, I'm pretty sure, was a PH shoot that I may still have in a box somewhere.
11. "Express to Sing Sing" (Richard L Shaeffer). Vaseliny B/W in 30s setting -- femme bank robber and her three accomplices pull a bank job, and then she has a threeway with the two survivors. Undoubtedly Viva.

Second issue is just "Penthouse Loving Couples," with no reference to Viva. Nearly all of it is from PH, as I used to have all, or nearly all, of those in the original mags. The set you describe is "Love in the Afternoon" (Jeff Dunas/Dennis Scott); I never saw that one in PH and would put a $ or two on its being a reprint from Viva.
