And now for a different magazine, Erotic Stars, an offshoot of Cinema Blue, which itself is an offshoot of Hustler (the full title of the mag is Cinema Blue Presents Erotic Stars, though the first three words are in microscopic print on the cover). Carol, this time as Carol, appeared in the same two outfits, probably from the same photo shoot, though Suz* R*nd*ll is given no credit this time.

The magazine has no date, not even a year, on it that I can find, though it does say inside that this is #22, Vol. 2, No. 12; and a slightly later issue, #24, vol. 3, No. 2 is copyright 1991, so this had to be from 1991 at the latest. Interestingly, the text claims that she's "pushing thirty." If her most frequently cited birth date of August 1965 is correct, in 1989, when these photos were probably taken, she would have been only 23 or 24. Not that anything in this magazine can be taken very seriously . . . except for Carol herself, of course.





This time, Carol appears on the magazine cover in a tiny inset photo, upper right corner, and I've scanned the whole cover, and also the inset photo at a higher resolution, though it still comes out low res and grainy. But don't despair -- the same photo, or a similar pose, appears on the box of one of her videos, which I'll get around to posting sometime. In the second row, the first two pix are a two-page spread, which I had to do as two separate scans. Sorry about the phone sex plug on the last pic -- but what can you expect from a Larry Flynt mag?

Three month after her original appearance as Teri, the lady more often known as Carol Cummings was back in High Society in an eight-page spread, this time as a brunette Teri, in a g/g spread with Stephanie Rage, and once again Suz* R*nd*ll was credited as the photographer.







The second pic in the first row is a blowup of the small pic of the two ladies on the magazine's cover.

A few months later, Live magazine's August 1989 issue published an interview with Carol, and three unfortunately small pix scattered through the interview were obviously from this same photo shoot. Here they are:

Since I've mentioned the interview with Carol Cummings in the August 1989 Live magazine, this is a good time to post it. It's short and seems to break off earlier than a good interview would. Maybe they ran out of space. And, of course, the interview may have been made up by a hack writer at the magazine and never actually took place. Elsewhere in the magazine was Carol (as Sylvia) and Selena (Steele) in an "answer" to a letter which I've already posted. And on page 66 was a review of Carol's video The All-American Girl (second in The Carol Cummings Show series), which I'm also posting. (I'll mention that the pic of Carol and Randy West's head is not from The All American Girl, but instead from For Her Pleasure Only.) Carol was all over that issue, but not on the cover. Someone flubbed the dub there . . .

Thanks for the kind words. I have some more magazine spreads I'll upload, but I'll have to dig 'em out first. Also, as I did last time, I want to run spreads which obviously are all from the same photo shoot together, so I also have to organize them. For example, for one photo shoot, I'll need to get at least four magazines (one of them a French mag) together which used photos from the same shoot, with some overlap, but not complete overlap. And there are at least two more similar cases.

If the most commonly cited date of Carol's birth (August 26, 1965) is correct, she'll be turning 44 next week, though a lot of online chatterers in the late 1990s thought she looked older than 24 or 25 in her videos, and thought the actual date had to be earlier, some saying a whole decade earlier. Since I've known women in their mid-twenties who looked older than they were, and women in their thirties who looked much younger than they were, I think there's still room for argument as to her real age. Anyway, I'll bet she still can't walk down the street without stopping traffic and breaking hearts.

Nice collage, though the center pic was bothering me, since it looked familiar but I couldn't place it. Finally realized that it must be a box cover for Plenty of Pleasure, though it's different from the one I have, and is a version I hadn't seen before. Eventually, it dawned on me that you had photoshopped it to give Carol a different head, taken from a different pic of the lady, duh!

Aside from my confusion, here's the one I'm used to:



Seeing your photoshopped version and the original box made me realize for the first time (duh! #2) that the photo of Carol on the front cover of the video box is the same photo I use for an avatar. (Later: I'm now using a different pic of the lady as an avatar: the photo of her on the box of the original issue of Tequila Sunset, cropped to a headshot.) However, the box version has been made much darker, so that the background, with the streaks of color, is barely visible. I wonder if there was some technical reason for doing this . . . or maybe just some cover designer being "creative"?

All my confusion aside, many thanks for the collage.

If the term "slick" is unfamiliar to anyone . . . it's a small poster, usually 8 1/2 by 11 inches, sent to video stores to put on the wall or somewhere visible to promote a video. Often, they look like the box cover or covers, as here, but there may be differences, and, of course, they're larger than the box.

Now, for a break from magazine spreads, I'm going to post some box covers for videos starring Ms. Cummings. I'll lead off with one that doesn't show up on most lists of her videos: Romantic Encounters, Vol. 4, a soft-core video with nudity and actors simulating having sex, but no crotch shots or penetration (visible, at least). And the lady is not going by Carol Cummings this time. According to a review of the video in Adult Video News, she's credited as "Ellen Anderson," though I'm not sure how the reviewer knew that. The credits on the video just give the participants' names, and don't say which segment they're in. Maybe he was sent a review copy with additional information saying which actor was in which segment. (The video has several independent story sections -- in Carol's case, her character has a piano she wants to sell, and the guy who saw her want ad and dropped by her home gets to tune her instrument, so to speak . . .)

Enlarging the two small pics gives a blurred result, alas.

This tape is actually an R-rated production trying very hard to give you an X-rated feeling, and but for the placement of the camera in a couple of scenes, it could be hardcore. Yes, folks, you'll see just about everything except penetration, hear everything except moans of pleasure, and have storylines that are very involving. But, as its title implies, this is also about romance, and there is a certain amount of that.
Every once in a while, the characters engage in dialogue that the average person might once have said – or, more importantly, would like to have said – when in a similar situation. So for a relaxed, sensual evening with your lover, this is certainly a worthwhile tape to slip into the VCR. But . . . for readers of the other portion of his magazine, there's an extra bonus. Look closely at the segment entitled "Piano For Sale". Recognize the woman? She calls herself Ellen Anderson, but X-rated fans have seen her as Carol Cummins [sic] . . . and her performance is definitely worth more than one look!

Carol/Ellen is a blonde this time. Unfortunately, my copy is recorded at the slowest VHS speed (SLP, pronounced "slop," and also known as EP), and I'm not sure that there ever was a version released at the SP speed, which would have a less fuzzy picture.

P.S. Romantic Encounters, Vol. 4 was also reviewed in Hustler Erotic Video Guide for October, 1990. Oddly, the cast list doesn't include "Ellen Anderson" (Carol). If the reviewer (Sam Lowry) recognized Carol, he doesn't mention it, which might be why there's no caustic putdown of the lady, as was usually S.O.P. when she was mentioned in Hustler and its offshoot publications. Last week, I posted six pages of stills from Bo-Dacious showing Carol in action with Billy Dee. Here're the front and back covers, spines, and the pic on the top flap (which is the same as the bottom flap) for the same video. This is one of the video boxes where the spines and flaps have pix on them which aren't the same as the front and/or back cover, so I'm including them. .

In the video, the lady is wearing her pageboy/Prince Valiant wig, and does not have her hair up as in these pics, nor is she dressed in lingerie at any time. Not that I'm complaining . . .



The pics above are from the box for the original issue of Bo-Dacious. The video was later re-issued with a hyper-mammalian blonde (probably Lynn Lemay from the prominent teddy bear tattoo on one of her prominences) on the front and back covers and no sign of Carol on the box, though her two sex scenes were still on the tape, fortunately. I think it's Lemay who is getting laid behind the opening credits (extracted from a scene that is repeated later in full in the re-issued version). The original edition had Carol doing a strip-tease behind the opening credits -- she's playing a stripper named "Bo-Dacious" in the video; and don't drop the hyphen. Here're the reissue's box covers:



The gold star was pasted on the front cover by a previous owner. If Carol Cummings were still on the box covers, I'd vote for it having a platinum star. On second thought, make that a diamond star!

The opposite side of the slick is promoting a different video, so I'm not including it.

A photo from the same shoot was used for the cover of her video Hollywood Knights, in which Carol has a g/g with Misty Regan. Here's the front cover of the video box (the back cover has Sabrina on display and is regrettably Carol-less), and an 8 1/2 by 11 inch promotional slick for the video:



This slick also promotes a different video on the flip side: No Strings Attached, which has Carol in the cast, but not on the video box's cover.

According to IAFD, Hollywood Knights was also released as City Lickers, but I don't have a copy of that edition and don't know who or what was on the cover. According to some sources, the title is actually Hollywood Knights 3, but that's not what's on the box or the slick.

P.S. And here's a photo (unfortunately, a tiny photo) of Carol which looks to be from the same photo shoot whence came the video box's photos. It's very similar to the box's front cover, but her chin is a trifle higher and the expression on her face is slightly different. The photo appeared in the September 1993 issue of Adam Film World Guide.

Last week, I posted a bunch of magazine spreads, and a collectible card, of Ms. Cummings which printed pix of her clothed two different ways, obviously from the same one or two photo shoots (though with little repetition). That was the cover (but not the interior) of Live, May 1989, the front and back of Hot Shot card #195, the interior spread in High Society, February 1989 (but not the cover), and Erotic Stars #22. I mentioned that the same outfits show up on several video boxes. Here're the front and back covers of Candy Ass:

Last time, I blew up a small inset pic of Carol from the cover of Erotic Stars #22, and the result was lamentably blurred and grainy. But, as I wrote at the time, the back cover of Candy Ass seems to be the same pic, though one of them was flipped.

Sorry about the price sticker on Carol's thigh on the first pic -- it just wouldn't peel off completely. The back cover of Volume 2 also appears in two of the magazine spreads, but this one, too, is flipped.

An odd thing about Carol Cummings X-Posed is that I have two different versions of it (same covers, though). One is almost one hour long, and the other has several additional scenes and is almost two hours long. IIRC, both versions, as well as Volume 2, only have Carol in her brunette aspect, in spite of her blonde appearance on both of the box covers. And the same is true for Candy Ass.

Time to swing back to Carol's brunette aspect. She was in two different videos with confusingly similar names, America's Most Wanted Girl and She's America's Most Wanted. Here're the box covers:



(And, no, I don't know if that's really her behind on the back cover of She's America's Most Wanted. I don't know what the boxing gloves have to do with anything, either . . .)

One commendable aspect of both videos is that she had two scenes in each one. With Sharon Kane and with Robert Bullock (whose name, I've just noticed, isn't on the box) in America's Most Wanted Girl, and with Ray Victory and with Chris Dough (whose name doesn't appear on that box, either) in She's America's Most Wanted. Since Carol's name is misspelled as "Carrol" in the opening credits of America's Most Wanted Girl, that's the least they could do, imho.

Incidentally, though she's on the box cover of America's Most Wanted Girl, Carol is not the one who's Most Wanted -- this video actually has a story, and in it a private eye is looking for a missing woman. Fortunately, Carol isn't the missing party, or she might not have had two scenes.

The photo of Carol on the front cover of America's Most Wanted Girl also was used on a Velvet magazine cover, and I'll post that and the interior pix of that very much wanted lady as soon as I figure where I've tucked it away. It also is used on Excalibur's web page for Carol.
