Justice League - The New Frontier (2008)
- Love this, arguably the best DC animated film ever, only Mask of the Phantasm gives it challenge.
- Miguel Ferrer voicing Martian Manhunter is perfect.
- Tone is extremely comfy but isn't afraid to go dark (the narrator sort of commits suicide in the opening)
Final Fantasy 7 - Advent Children (2005)
Justice League - Crisis on 2 Earths (2010) --- First Time Viewing...
- Main league members voices are kinda meh to poor (superman especially is lacking) but James Woods & Gina Tores do very well as Owlman & Superwoman
- Great fight scenes.
Predator (1987)
Predator 2 (1990)
- Like all 3 Predator films pretty much equally.
- Early scenes with Bill Paxton & Maria Conchita Alonso are kinda cringy but they improve after tragedy strikes the team.
The Haunted Sea (1997)
- Very poor overall but Krista Allen does supply some fantastic nude scenes & James Brolin is cool for what tiny moments he is on screen.
- The monster conceptually is cool (look at the statue of it) but execution wise the suit sucks bad.
It the terror from beyond space (1958)
- Damn good 50s monster film with a solid cast.
- Went on to heavily inspire Alien.
- Only flaw is it comes off in bad taste the main female character cozying up to the lead while her boyfriend is dying.
Hellbound (1994) --- First Time Viewing...
- Some decent parts but the stuff with Chuck Norris's partner is insufferable at times.

Scifi, based on a novel by H.G. Wells, who also wrote the screenplay. Performed somewhat theatrically, but with quite interesting special effects for the time. And in some aspects quite a visionary perspective.

And the music is respectfully acknowledged by Williams in the 'Star Wars' Saga.

Most especially the theme that Williams used as a coda for the "Storm Trooper's March"...almost identical.

Not plagiasm, but respect for a Classic imo.

Alien Covenant 2017

It's taken me a while to catch up with this movie, but I wanted to make a few comments. The film has some excellent special effects, but it's essentially yet another re-working of the original story. Ridley Scott has improved the spacecraft and the hardware from the first movie. The space suits look better designed and more realistic now and the interior of the interstellar craft is a bit tidier with flat display monitors and better controls, etc. Unfortunately, they carry 20th Century assault rifles with laser target designators on the planet they visit and don't seem to have much sense of self protection.

This story takes place about 90 years from now and there is some very bad science from time to time and some of the things shown in this film are probably not going to be possible for a lot longer.

Just the likelihood of having a massive interstellar colony ship capable of very high speed flight is somewhat unlikely. Self aware androids that are as smart as people is also unlikely in such a short time period and of course, there is anti-gravity of some sort that allows everyone to stand up in the spacecraft - out in space and drink coffee or whatever from cups.

Then the explorers who put down on the remote planet that just happens to look rather like Iceland have insufficient sense to consider biohazards. This takes them down the usual road to disaster. The manic alien monsters they encounter are a different from the past, but have superhuman strength. In one instance, a xenomorph or whatever they are now called, manages to head butt the windshield on a shuttlecraft and fracture it. Again rather unlikely. There are loads of technical mistakes, general confusion, wooden acting at times and I was not exactly blown away when it came to an end.

The first two Alien movies rank for me as some of the best sci-fi ever made. Sadly this latest Ridley Scott effort leaves much to be desired.

Watched "Justice League" Friday night as an early Christmas treat to myself, but fell asleep on the movie at the point when the League met Commissioner Gordon - woke up in time for the credits.
Now it could be tiredness on my part (I was working longer than expected on Friday), but I found the movie really dull.
And who was the fcuking genius at WB who thought Steppenwolf was a worthy bad-guy for the Justice League's origin movie?

Maybe they thought Darkseid was too much like Thanos who is going to be the major Marvel villain in 2018 and wimped out

1.) He was pretty badass in the New 52 Earth 2 book.

2.) They basically wanted to adapt the New 52 Justice League origin book and/or its animated adaption JL - War but didn't want to jump to Darkseid right off the bat.
3.) Originally they were still expecting Snyder to direct Justice League as a 2 part arc, they planned for the 2nd film to reveal Darkseid and delve into the apocalyptic future teased in Bvs so they had to set him up by using one of his minions for the 1st film.
Dessad isn't a physical threat, Kalibak is too bestial and might have come off like Doomsday but worse because he has to talk, The Furies were a valid option but they are kinda undistinctive & may have just felt like generic evil versions of the amazons.
