Should we blame the 1 guy in office? Or should we blame the 51% who put him there????
I think this is the biggest change in the way Europeans think since before Obama: the voters (the Americans) are to blame, and much less Trump himself (being the narcissistic psycho he has been all his life).

In short: Americans are much less respected and liked for actually giving Trump all this power.
Both Bush and Trump were minority presidents. Trump got 42% of the popular vote. Hillary Clinton got 44%.

The folks who set up our electoral system based it on that of the Holy Roman Empire. They were fools, and we get to live with the results of their foolishness.

Sadly too many American people are endoctrinated by a vicious plutocracy.
A plutocracy that doesn't care to throw its population into a precipice (socially, economically, energetically, environmentally speaking) as long they can maintain their own privileges during their lifetime.
I really hope that American people will regain their sovereignty, they have lost centuries ago.
I really hope that American people will stop to economically interfere with foreign people who have decided to emancipate from their own plutocracy.

After two dramatic World Wars in Europe, USA took the leadership in the world.

American people must understand that their politicians do not have to impose by force or by embargo "their market" abroad to people who don't really want it.

It's not the popular vote that decides, but the electoral vote. Hillary could also have been a minority president, same goes for Gore. We don't have to discuss the US voting system (btw, you are correct, it's terribly outdated and sucks big time) since the subject of this topic is how America under trump is viewed in the rest of the world. The cold hard fact is that Trump won fair and square, according to the US voting system, and THAT is what's most disturbing. He was actually put in office by the American people. And you know what? I think this loonatic will be re-elected in 2020. To me, there aren't any signs that the American people has learned from its mistakes, on the contrary, I see that more and more people are getting scared and frustrated (caused by Trump of course) and people who are following their fears (instead of common sense) will most likely follow a charismatic sociopath and not the person who actually has the brains to make a change for the good.

I don't think Americans are unique in that by any means.

Since Trump took over the news has been all about him,not gas attacks in the middle east, rockets flying into neighboring country's,small bands of idiots taking over country's,small bands of idiots kidnapping groups of young girls,by the way whatever happened to those girls.I've not heard anything about the middle east since he took over.Plenty of jobs, business's opening up instead of closing, houses are selling about as quick as their put on the market.I'd a lot rather have someone that gets things done instead of someone that spends their time bull shitting us into believing their trying to get something done.Yes I'm proud of this country, always have been even during the eight years of endless bull shit.I don't understand why anyone who isn't would continue to live here, there's hundreds of plane flights out every day.Being ashamed of your country is about like being ashamed of your family, the problem might be you.

Well, let's say it didn't take Trump for the US to lose much of the respect it may have enjoyed at some point in (recent) history. I have respect for many Americans who are great people and I think that most ordinary Americans are decent folk, trying to make ends meet like everyone else and certainly aware of what's right and wrong. This opinion of mine did not change with Trump becoming president nor do I see that happening in the future. But the US government, the military-industrial complex and the financial elites are the biggest threats to world peace and stability (or what's left of it) right now and have been way before Trump.

Obama was charming and all but his foreign policy was worse than his predecessor's and makes Trump look like a peace activist.

While I reserve judgment, there is an accumulating mountain of evidence which indicates otherwise.

No, George W. and shit like Abu Ghraib pretty much eviscerated all the good will the US had built up in the Middle east, with the exception of Israel over the past 150 years and the US will NEVER get it back.
