Most of the people here have already been exposed to your "excellent" arguments in one way or another and have dismissed them for the intellectual fallacies that they are.

Why would you bring "Amistad" into the discussion? What does a slave ship from ages past have to do with the world today? Do you think there are still black slaves chopping cotton on plantations down south?

I've seen that movie, BTW, and it was a good one.

There is a personal life lesson for you in that movie. When the slaves decided to revolt, they bravely took over the ship, sustaining casualties, but once they did, they had no effing idea of how to sail it back home, and ended up sailing from the frying pan right into the fire.

That's you. You want to be given the ship's helm, regardless of the fact that you have no idea how to sail it, and only the most nebulous ideas about how to reach your destination. And it is clear to those of us who engage in rational thought that you would blithely sail us into the rocks somewhere where a grinning massa with whips and slave chains would be waiting for us.

No one is going to give you the helm.

I can't speak for Western Europe but I can tell you that in the UK when I started work just over 52 years ago, wages and working conditions, including health and safety, were much worse than they are now.

My father told me about the truly horrific working conditions when he started work [ aged 14] in the Clyde shipyards back in 1929.

If the majority can't rule then who does ?? a select few ?? and who appoints them ?? What if the majority don't agree with the leaders , do they just have to accept what's handed to them ... sounds familiar to a system that failed

That's the road to tyranny or have you forgotten that ??

Ban democracy people who have been oppressed for real have fought and died to live in a democracy.

That's who I look up too, someone unfortunate and did something to improve herself and many others ....... Theories, Professors, Social Chat have nothing on her experience.

I don't fully understand why the average people should "look up" to something, i.e. feel themselves shunned. Does the impossibility to integrate a medium-skill person signifies something great and useful?

Find "Saving Aesha" (J. Ravitz, CNN) about a case closer to reality. People in the story compared the girl's academic and communication failures to "disrespect":

You do not observe the reality.
Times slowly are deteriorating since at least 50 years.
The fact is that your father let you a better world to live, when you let a worse world for the next generations.
We reached a top between the 70's and 80's and now are sliding on a deadly slope.
Precarious jobs, environmental destruction, overpopulation...
Anyone who doesn't observe that lives in a total denial.

There is some truth to that.

They spent billions over here for "Homeland Security" after 9/11, to no real effect, other than to harass every passenger who gets on an airplane and train them to obey authority without question.

Somebody is making a lot of money off of the "security theater" going on in the US today.

Good points were made as well about how the "enemies" in the "War on Terror" were chosen.

It's all for freedom and destroying terror, nothing to do with making a grab for someone else's oil, nope.
