Speaking of the clowns and implausible scenes
80s action heros movies All were coated in teflon so much that no bullett shot at them ever hit even when it came from a machine gun at pointed point blank Van Damme = Van garbage Big trouble in Little China - Kurt Russell School Bus sitting still / moving slowly full of escaping cast gets shot too pieces with those very badly aimed machine guns again at point blank - you'd have to believe they were using 18th century muskets - and everyone lives. The Good the bad & the ugly First lesson of being a fugitive - Eli Wallach - always keep your guns on when having a bubble bath - makes for a great scene when your finally cornered and you shoot through the bubbles - believable - probably not. |

That someone can get stabbed in the guts, tumble down a long flight of public stairs, fall ten metres to the ground at the end and then be found by a kindly actress who binds up their wounds and the next day they're right as rain.
Oh and the kindly actress gets killed for her troubles. I'm talkin' 'bout you Arya Stark. |

Yeah, I'm with you, buttsie. Revolvers and ammo were not made to fire underwater back in those days. Tuco should have leapt out of the tub, all frothy and soapy, swinging a Bowie knife. |

The action hero is always divorced.
He and ex-wife separated because of his devotion to job. Always a good father though not always there for his kids because he's always away on an important case. If the ex-wife is in a new relationship, the new husband/boyfriend is a jerk, leading the way for the hero to reclaim his wife at the end of the movie. Effective decapitation?
Given: I understand the idea that certain horror creatures will regenterate after injuries and/or they can only be killed in certain ways. For example, you can only kill werewolves with silver but before then you can injure them with normal weapons--bullets, axes, American fast food, etc.
Question: Why can't the heroes use injuring trauma to their advantage? For example, why doesn't a werewolf that loses a limb or head to an axe, or lose all its hair to fire, hesitate or slow down a bit, then? The werewolf is not killed (and let's assume the head or limb will, eventually grow back) but wouldn't the werewolf find these things at least extremely painful if not debilitating for at least a few minutes?!? This should give the heroes (or victims) at least a few minutes reprieve to run away--or remove further limbs ... Also, if the spinal cord or brain stem is severed (by any means), won't this wreak havoc of the rest of the neural system for at least a few seconds in any creature complex enough to have limbs or a brain? 1) Then the various bodyparts must reunite with each other before they can heal. Imagine you--the creature--are hungry, tired from tracking & fighting, in extreme pain, in darknes (it's a horror movie), and NOW you need to find your leg or head to heal! This might take some time. 2) So your head and ass are reattached, would you like a bit of a nap (or maybe a cup of tea, or some time to think, hint hint ) before racing off to re-attack the people that did this to you?!? Why don't you just find easier prey? This situation is a teensy bit more intense than a regular hangover, don't ya think? So, again, why don't the heroes and victims have more time? e.d. P.S.: If you chop off the zombie's head and it keeps talking at you, then you should make just one more injury to it. Break the skull and jawbone in half as well so that you won't need to listen to the curses and the zombie will need to heal longer before it can verbally gather its minons against you. |

I really can't recommend this radio comedy highly enough for you film fans. Thom Tuck Goes Straight to DVD. He looks at the post cinema releases of Steven Seagal in this episode
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qem5bKlUHqI If you like this, which you will. he also did episodes on The Olsen Twins, Faith films and Bollywood films. His pilot on Disney is also on yutoob but isn't great.

I think that one movie of the X-Men franchise, where Wolverine and the others fight on the thin concrete edge of a nuclear plant cooling tower, is the movie where I said to myself, "Only in the movies..."
Then there was the Star Wars prequel where Anakin cuts off both of Dooku's forearms, and then they immediately cauterize with dark matter. "Only in BattleTech" am I aware of hero juice(s) made by the Clans that immediately cauterize people who have been hit with machine guns or SRM rounds. So I guess that Star Wars has something similar; Dooku's faction did use vehicles that looked like DropShips from BattleTech to get away during Episode 5. |
