Isn't that pretty much exactly what ISIS/ISIL/whatever is pretty much counting on? It seems they want us in there so they can try and unite the entire Muslim world against us.

And on a side note, sounds like ISIS/ISIL/whatever is now starting to take in some real money and not having to rely on the Saudi's largesse. Hearing all kinds of reports they've taken over portions of the Mosul oil fields and are selling their oil for about $60 per barrel. Not quite half what everyone else pays. And they're having no problem selling their oil. Buyers everywhere and apparently fairly easy to ship it either through Turkey or Syria.

Well this family squabble leaves the Hatfields and the Coys in the dust-it's been going on for close to 1400 years-(since 632 AD) so must hold the record for family squabbles.....

The Libyan rebels did exactly the same thing only 2 or 3 years back-sold oil once they'd seized refineries and port facilities-and the West was happy enough to buy it from them-in cash or in kind. Plenty of uprisings in Africa have been financed by blood diamonds over the past couple of decades. It's hardly novel-or unexpected behaviour by ISIS...

No doubt they'll discover one of the great truths of conquest shortly-its relatively easy to seize land and control-its a lot, lot harder to retain it...

And the second great truth they'll also discover is that with money flowing in and more and more land secured, it is a lot harder to maintain a cohesive vision, image and message-and group fragmentation will occur-just as happened in Syria.....

Funny thing that

More likely, they've figured out that with the rest of the ME on fire, the Israelis feel free to retailiate

Hamas' game of provocation and then seeking political advantage through inevitable civilian casualties doesn't work when world attention is devoted to ISIL beheading people.

Maybe they're waiting for IS reinforcements?

I stumbled upon this piece of an interview on a Belgian news site today:
Quote:
(...) an interview conducted by Knack Montasser AIDe'emeh who for a doctorate at the University of Antwerp studied the motivations of Syria fighters. The boy with whom he is in the Syrian city of Raqqa from where he fights with IS to build a caliphate in the region He claims there is to know, as Brian De Mulder and Abu Hanifa (ringleader of Sharia 4 Belgium). From Syria and Iraq, the IS-fighters will conquer the entire region, he says, with the aim liberate Jerusalem.

"When we're done with Iraq and Syria, it's Lebanon's turn," says the boy. "Then Jordan, Palestine, and finally, when we reach the borders of Palestine, we will call the Palestinians there to flee temporarily because then there will be a heavy war between the IS and Israel. We'll bomb them .. All the soldiers in Israel will die. Israelis who do not support the Israeli government better leave. Even the Jews living in Antwerp, are not safe. "
The rest of the interview is such uninteresting drivel that i didn't bother including it.

What these easily persuaded IS recruits don't quite realise is that they are helping to try and build a Caliphate not on religious teachings but by terror which simply bolsters many people's beliefs that Islam and terrorism are inseparable.

As for an all out assault on Israel well I think history shows that Israel knows how to defend herself, they will have no qualms in wiping IS out.

The IDF has already announced that if IS moves on Jordan then it's forces will plaster IS. It's in Israel's best interests to see a stable Jordan.

To paraphrase an old song they "are blinded by the light" of religious zealotry. Inculcated in the belief that they are the arm(s) of Allah and can do no wrong as long as they follow this farcical Caliph. They will only learn the truth when they are killed or conquered, IMO.
I agree about Israel. Look at how many times different Arab nations have tried to conquer them!! You don't want to fight a foe who has their backs to the wall and are fighting for not only individual survival but national as well.

The Obama administration has for now abandoned efforts for a diplomatic settlement to the conflict in Syria, and instead it is increasing aid to the rebels and redoubling efforts to rally a coalition of like-minded countries to forcibly bring down the government of President Bashar al-Assad, American officials say.

Surprise ! Surprise !

Israel downs Syrian warplane it says violated its Golan airspace ...

While fighting ISIL
