What shows would you like to see back on TV and why?
A post on a thread by Wendigo today set me to thinking how great the Old Grey Whistle Test was, diverse bands new bands and Supergroups all queing up to play live on our TV.
Ive left this open to our friends overseas even if we probably wont know each others TV shows. Last edited by tabler; March 27th, 2009 at 02:57 PM.. |

None.
Re-runs provide TV executives the perfect opportunity not to make new programes for their audiences. Hi tabler. I aint so sure re-runs are a good idea, my friend. You can get everything vintage or past on DVD or from the net these days. TV companies make more than enough profit from advertising - they should be expected to 'invest' in new shows for their audiences. Kiwi

That is a very good point Kiwi, what is your opinion on re-makes rather than re-runs? ie-the BBC doing a new series of Blackadder (there is strong speculation)

Not sure if they count, but I sadly miss the Road Runner cartoons. These have not been seen on mainstream terrestrial TV in Britain for years and they are IMHO easily the best cartoons ever produced by Warner Brothers. Wile E Cayote is an utterly inspired comic creation: relentless, indefatiguable and hopelessly unlucky. I particularly enjoyed the way he could defy gravity (his worst enemy) only as long as he didn't realise he was doing so. Then there would come the look of dignified resignation, then the free-fall bomb whistling noise as he receded down the canyon, and finally the thud and the tiny little puff of dust as he hit the bottom.
I always hoped that at least once he would get the better of the smug git Roadrunner, but it was not to be. He really really should have taken legal action against the Acme Corporation... |

I'd like to see another series of Firefly made and another series of Ultraviolet (obscure drama on C4 about a decade ago about vampires that no-one noticed but was really good). Also interested to see what becomes of the Blake's 7 remake that is allegedly in production.
