9 dead in New York City. Massive flooding. Con Ed shut off the power. A surveillance video caught water rushing out of an elevator door. Water in the subways. Woman electrocuted stepping in puddle. Man loses hand lighting what he thought was a candle, but instead was a firecracker.
Here in upstate, very nasty yesterday, but no devastation.

I spoke with friends outside of Philly and in south-eastern Pennsylvania. Lots of wind and rain and power outages but otherwise ok. There has been some flooding of creeks and rivers but that was expected. One of the towns, Bristol in Bucks County, was going to call in the National Guard because of looting after the storm!

Default Truth is stranger than fiction

In today's surreal news:

Michael Brown, the director of FEMA during Hurricane Katrina, has criticized President Obama for "reacting too quickly" to Hurricane Sandy.

I think Michael Brown shoud just shut his f***ing mouth and not remind people about how unqualified and incompetent he was at his job.

I thought you had to be wrong about that as I thought Brown was hidden under some rock somewhere. But no! You were right!

Why in hell is this guy (as well as the rest of the Bush administration) not in jail? You could certainly put him there for stupidity! Or incompetence?

First Hurricane Katrina; then the Deepwater Horizon disaster; and now Hurricane Sandy.

FEMA are a bag of arse.

Postscript:
In fairness I should note that this really injudicious comment comes from the former rather than the serving director of FEMA.

Seems like Hurricane Sandy only became newsworthy once it had reached the shores of the USA.

Regards.
