I had heard about the new film, I just hope that they're not going to try and copy the original.
The series was great, there was nothing like it at that time, it was way ahead of the field. But there was more to it than that you also had great actors who worked well together. Thaw and Waterman clicked. They obviously got on well together and that came through in their acting. That was a big part of what made the show so good and I don't think that they could copy that. I reckon that the film is all about making money. They've seen how popular the show still is and thought we could cash in on this and make pots of money.

I should have held my hands up to not sticking with Hunt and co for long and allowed for the fact that a lot of LoM/A2A fans won't ever have seen The Sweeney.Although I honestly hadn't heard of even one person watching and liking both, prior to today.
The former just struck me as not anywhere near as clever as it thought it was and I found myself thinking that watching re runs of Target would have been preferable. It was a pretty straightforward attempt at ripping off The Sweeney and went wide of the mark by overdoing the violence and forgetting the humour. |

But I do recall being underwhelmed by my first tastes of The Sopranos and Family Guy,seeing the former as a sort of Godfather meets Dallas (which I suppose it basically is,but I mean that as a compliment now where I didn't once) and the latter as pretty much a poor man's Simpsons. But I had the good fortune to happen in to late night repeats of early episodes of both shows and really get into them. |

Hunt or Regan-Who's the Guv'nor ?
Now I think (Hey It could happen ) about the question properly !. Neither I prefer a far more manly detective
