Video Problems

Hi Guys, I'm new to this forum and I'm really pleased to be here as I loved FC back in the day and its great to see videos I'd lost years ago.
My problem is I've downloaded a few videos which just wont play some have file extensions like .wmv.001 so I take the .001 off, is that the correct way because I'm finding a lot videos that don't do anything, I understand that when some of these videos were uploaded the codecs may have changed but latest was Donna 3 (Donna Collins - 3 DVD1147) the first half of the video worked but second doesn't then I tried DVD Xmas special 2008 and both of them dont work, is it something that I'm not doing right or the video themselves? Please any help would be appreciated.

If you see .001/2/3(check files are all the same size bar the last, its smaller) after the name you would join all parts with a prog like 7zip(1mb file-search google for home page). There are plenty of video players to choose from, i mainly use Media Player Classic - Home Cinema (MPC-HC) and Vlc player.

When a file is divided into parts (.001, .002, etc.), the best free program to join is "HJ-Split" (Choose File Join / All files to join, must be in the same folder)

As said LV Gas, the best video player is "Media Player Classic".
