Haven't read the whole story, but it sounds like that stuff will take 20 years out of your life. Higher metabolism and muscle growth? Something has got to give...

Brother tygrkhat, it has happened much more than 7 times. Kinda of one of those things I've always been interested in. The BAA/NBA had so many teams come and go it makes putting a list together pretty easy just using that as a guide. Indianapolis is on about it's third NBA team for instance. The instability of the NHL and it's periods of rapid expansion and relocation also aid. Glad to find somebody else interested in this stuff.

St. Louis lost the NBA Hawks to Atlanta in 1968. St Louis Lost the NFL Cardinals to Phoenix in 1980s IIRC. If were counting ABA teams, St. Louis lost the Spirit in the 1970s. St. Louis I believe had an original BAA basketball team as well.

Speaking of the NBA Hawks, they moved to St. Louis from Milwaukee in the 1950s. MLB's MIlwaukee Braves moved to Atlanta in the mid 1960s.

Washington DC is now on it's 3rd MLB baseball team. The first Senators are now the Minnesota Twins. The second version of the Senators are now the Texas Rangers. The NBA's Washington Capitols folded in the early 1950.

Kansas City once had MLB's A's before the A's moved to Oakland in the late 1960s. The NBA's Sacramento Kings also called Kansas City home until the middle 1980s. In the 1970s, Kansas City had an NHL franchise called the Scouts, that moved to Denver, then to New Jersey and are now the Devils.

You mentioned the Baltimore Bullets moving to Washington DC, the NFL Colts also left for Indianapolis. And there was a previous version of the Baltimore Bullets in the BAA before the second Chicago team moved there.

Cleveland has lost 2 NFL teams. The aforementioned Rams to Los Angeles, and the Browns moved to Baltimore to become the Ravens. But the NFL technically considers the Ravens an expansion team and the Browns as one continuing franchise that ceased operations for a few years. But that is like renaming a dog a chicken. It still barks. Also Cleveland once had an NHL team Cleveland Barons until the 1970s. I believe that team folded and was absorbed mostly by the Minnesota North Stars. I'd have to look that up and it's late here and I'm too lazy to do that. Cleveland had a BAA basketball team prior to the Cavaliers. I want to say that team moved shortly after it started though.

Boston has lost the MLB Braves to Milwaukee and now in Atlanta. The NFL Redskins were also originally from Boston --But I think that might be before the BBA/NBA.

Minneapolis was once home to the NBA's Lakers. The NHL's North Stars moved to Dallas in 1993ish.

Philadelphia has two of it's former teams now playing in Oakland. Baseball's A's started in Philadelphia and stayed there until the move to Kansas City in the 1950s. The current NBA champs Golden State Warriors also won the first NBA Championship as the Philadelphia Warriors. They moved to San Francisco in the early 1970s and a couple of years later into their current arena in Oakland and changed the name from San Francisco to Golden State.

Seattle. We all know that the Oklahoma City Thunder moved from Seattle not too long ago. It's easy to forget that the first Milwaukee Brewers were originally the Seattle Pilots in 1969(?) for a season or two. I think that might be the last time a MLB franchise has relocated.

Denver had an early version of the Nuggets in the NBA, not the same as the ABA team that merged in the 1970s. And of course the New Jersey Devils moved from Denver in the 1980s where they were known as the Rockies.

I'm sure there are many cities that have lost at least two franchises of the four major leagues since the emergence of the BAA. These are all I can think of at the moment.

Great topic.

You're right there wb. However, I was just talking about cities that have lost two teams in the same sport, and in most cases, the same league. I also excluded the failed leagues, the AAFC, WFL, USFL, ABA and WHA, even if those leagues put teams into existing leagues.

I also excluded the Indianapolis Jets/Olympians as the NBA considers them one team and the Washington Senators for the same reason, except MLB.

The prolific writer/creator/producer and part time actor Stan Lee appears in ALL the Marvel superhero films like Captain America, Iron Man, Fantastic Four in very cameo roles(blink and you'll miss him) but oddly enough not in the television series like Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and the new one currently running on FOX television, Marvel's Agent Carter. Strangely he does appear sometimes as himself or doing a voiceover in the cartoon versions of Marvel superheroes like 'Spider Man' in all it's recent incarnations, HULK and the Agents of SMASH(as the Mayor of Vista Verde) and 'Avengers Assemble' No doubt it is written into his contract.

Actually, Agent Carter is on ABC, as Marvel and ABC share the Mouse House as a corporate parent.

Did you know that there are four-year colleges that WON'T accept credits from their own alumni that were done at other colleges of the same university? The University of Cincinnati comes to mind, and there are probably others out there that act the same way.
