Yes, the CP preferences are all in order. I've also tried three different browsers with no luck. Makes no difference how I access the site, visitor or mod, same damned issue. I do notice that if a page is open awhile in a new tab while I do other stuff away from the forum, when I come back to that page any link I click on opens normally (fast). On the other hand, if a page is open a short time, I click on something, the issues I described earlier apply. Takes an eternity for the page to open. For example, I log on, the main forum page finally opens, I click right away on anything, it takes forever for the new page to open. If I wait for 3 or 4 minutes after the main page opens, then click on something it opens almost right away. I just don't get it. On the plus side, waiting after a page opens gives me time to grab a beer from the kitchen. On the other hand, the way the forum works for me now, I'm dead drunk in 45 minutes! |

So my question is....why does logging in this way make a difference and what do I need to do to log in without using this proxy? |

Interesting...
Just in an experimental way, you could try some things: You say on every other website things work okay - could you find another where you had the same slowdown? For example, do you find things run slowly if you browse, without the proxy, another 'Adult' site? When I look at that proxy, it defaults to the Netherlands. Do you get the same relief from your problems if you set the location to USA? Finally, again without the proxy, have you tried disabling AVG and ZoneAlarm (only very briefly, mind)? If it doesn't matter what browser you use, they seem to be the constants in your situation.

Once in awhile, Planet Suzy would give me the same issue but to a much less frequent extent. Every other site works fine without the proxy. And yes, I've tried all sorts of enabled this, disabled that combinations with different browsers/firewalls/antivirus/browser add-ons to no avail. All pre-proxy BTW. Using the proxy roto hooked me up with works like a charm. |

I realised you'd already answered one of the questions, about firewall and anti-virus, when I looked at your first post again. But you didn't say if you'd tried the proxy while setting it to the USA - I was just wondering if it was being on a proxy that was making a difference or being in a different country. Probably nothing meaningful will come out it anyway.
As you're using Firefox, you might try installing two other add-ons: YesScript - a less intrusive alternative to NoScript. Click the toolbar icon while you're on the forum and javascript is disabled here. Ghostery - set it to forbid everything.

Changed the proxy location to different places and no difference. Works great wherever. I'll check out the add-ons you suggested. Hell, I'll try anything! |
