True, and so does NT, but I don't think NT has DST
But that's understandable not having the same as the East Coast given it's a huge state, meaning those on the west side of the state would have slightly ridiculous daylight hours by the clock.

Some argued NZ should be 1/2 hour different, given position within timezone (band). Main opponents of dst here seem to be dairy farmers.

A couple of decades ago dst start/end was moved because of similar move by E. Oz--i.e. to keep in synch.

Meanwhile, Russia has 11 zones & no (longer any) dst... though they had it year-round in 1930.

I seem to recall that Nepal had a zone 1/4 of an hour different from India Standard Time, which itself is a 1/2 hour zone.

Understandable. Not only did my border-collie used to wake me each morning, during my short tenure milking cows, but the cows themselves would wait at the gate twice a day. Regular as clockwork, until dst...

Personally speaking I know little of either. (I've yet to view your links). Traditionally we milked twice a day, until they started 'drying off'.
First time I did this I was in my late teens, then again in my mid twenties.

Edit: I'm definitely in favour of robotic milking (seems cows are also). Some opt for three times a day.
I have great respect for dairy farmers, but it's not a lifestyle choice I'd care to make.

Well daylight saving in NZ is now well entrenched-but goes back a long time-longer than most would think. 1868 NZ standard time was set at 11h30m ahead of GMT. In 1927 daylight saving was first observed in NZ-but varying dates and degrees over subsequent years. Ignoring temporary emergency regulation during the war years, in 1946 NZ summer time of +12hrs GMT was adopted as NZ standard time-thus incorporating 30 minutes of daylight saving permanently-and daylight saving summer time reintroduced in 1975. So as I type this the time is 1-1/2 hours ahead of what it would have been on this date in 1867!

When I was working, I would complain to my wife, 'that if people want an hour of extra daylight, let 'em get up and hour earlier.' But now that I'm retired, I think DLS is a good idea.

Some anomalies with the current DST arrangements.

Yalata, in the western part of South Australia (GMT+10:30), is half an hour ahead of Coolangatta on the Qld Gold Coast (GMT+10).

Broken Hill is in NSW but operates on Central Time.

A group of settlements on National Highway 1 in the eastern part of Western Australia, adjoining South Australia, operate on their own unofficial Central Western Time. That splits the difference between Western Standard Time and Central Standard Time, GMT+8:45 (!). They remain 45mins in front of Perth and do not go to Daylight Saving, whereas South Australia does.

From East to West they are Eucla, Mundrabilla, Madura and Cocklebiddy.

The population of this region might optimistically be put at 200 souls.
