Vincent Price's Edgar Alan Poe films, most notably The Conqueror Worm, are all awesome. (Any film where Price played a witch hunter was off the charts, he's that chilling in them.)

Some random films that come to mind:
Going Berserk - John Candy's best IMO. Also includes Eugene Levy and other SCTV alums. I have never spoken to a John Candy "fan" who has seen it. Johnny Got His Gun - Disturbing anti-war film with Donald Sutherland as Jesus Christ. Blood Simple - Coen bros first film, well-edited and produced. |

Cronos Guillermo del Toro, writer/director
Though this might have resurfaced on TV following the success of the Hellboy movies and Pan's Labyrinth. Definitely one for the film cultists though. IMDb http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104029/

Anyway.. does anyone remember 'The Smiling Ghost' with Wayne Morris and Willie Best? a 1940 B picture rip-off of Bob Hope's 'The Ghost Breakers' which also had the very funny Best - yes I know that it's the typical early Hollywood stereotyping of the negro but he seems to rise above all that and (I think) has some of the best lines in both films. |

Amazon.com claims that they have every movie ever made for sale, although many are very expensive.

......about half the movies ever made are lost.........forever! Ahead of its time in 1967, The Shuttered Room with Carol Lynley, Gig Young & Oliver Reed deserves to be better known. A 'special edition' DVD, with a commentary from Miss Lynley, is probably too much to hope for. |
