I remember a brilliant send up of 70's cops' series called 'Detectives on the verge of a nervous breakdown' which the channel 4 Comic Strip team did for the BBC in the 80's (seen nor transmitted since) and Peter Richardson played Wyngarde's character but called him Jason Bentley. I also remember Wyngarde's as the number two in 'The Prisoner' being pretty sinister.
Absolutely right - Jason King started in Department S, and was often the one who did the actual detecting. I got the box set for a song just before Christmas from CEX. Knowing how they work, I bet I wouldn't get such a bargain this week.

Everything is relative; a fanboy-ish group on Facebook headlined thus:
"Doctor Who and Flash Gordon actor Peter Wyngarde dies"

Have only seen one report but it says that actor Bradford Dillman - best known to me as the ambitious Major in The Bridge At Remagen, but lots of other TV and film work, passed away last week aged 87.

Artist Mark Campos has died.

"Mark Campos was born in Reno, Nevada in 1962. An alternative comics creator, his comics appeared in Hyena, Gay Comics, Itchy Planet, Naughty Bits and other publications. Working in a copy shop only fuelled this.

His work also appeared in several Seattle Newspapers and PopLust. Self-published titles by Campos have included El Mago Szazbo!, Exapno Mapcase and E. Soames. AEON published his two-issue solo comic Places That Are Gone, in 1994 and he also worked for a comic publisher called Cartoon Loonacy.

Without explanation, Mark Campos recently took his own life. His friends are raising money to help with funeral expenses, and expressing their loss. A prominent figure in the North West US comic community."

Default Kinks bassist Rodford dies aged 76

The Kinks bassist Jim Rodford has died at the age of 76. The British musician, who spent 18 years with the band from 1979, also played with Argent and The Zombies. His cousin and fellow bandmate, Rod Argent, paid tribute on Facebook to the "magnificent bass player", who died following a fall on the stairs. He also highlighted his commitment to the music scene in St Albans where he had lived all his life, playing with family members in The Rodford Files. "He gave us absolutely unflagging commitment, loyalty and unbelievable energy... Our gratitude is beyond measure," Argent said. "To the end, Jim's life was dedicated to music," Argent continued, in a lengthy tribute posted on Saturday. "He will be unbelievably missed." • The Kinks' Dave Davies paid tribute to his former colleague, who played with the band between 1979 and 1993, writing that he was "devastated by Jim's sudden loss". "I'm too broken up to put words together, it's such a shock, I always thought Jim would live forever in true rock and roll fashion - strange - great friend, great musician, great man - he was an integral part of the Kinks later years. RIP," he wrote on Twitter. Rodford was playing with The Bluetones when his cousin, Argent, first asked him to join his then-band The Zombies, alongside singer Colin Blunstone. Rodford declined, but Argent in his Facebook tribute said he was "inextricably bound to the story of The Zombies" and credited him as being "an enormous enabler" for the band who went on to have a major US hit with She's Not There in 1964.

Default Jim Rodford

Jim Rodford, bassist with Argent and latter-day Kinks has passed away at the age of 76.

Smallish chap whose bass often looked too big for him - but he handled it just fine. I met him a couple of times in his home town of St Albans where he was an occasional visitor to my sister's church. Always very modest and you had to winkle it out of him that he had played on some classics such as "God Gave Rock & Roll To You" and some fine Kinks tracks.

RIP mate.
