A question of film making style? (vintage porn)
I have watched porn for quite a while and I noticed some big differences between old and new. The old porn movies from the 70's and 80's had a lot of story and a little sex. Some of this is no doubt due to obscenity laws which required all films to have 'artistic merit' or something like that.
But what I'd really like to know is why some films (seemingly most) of that era have so little actual screwing. One person I asked said something like "they weren't allowed to show as much then as they do now." This answer doesn't make sense to me since men had full erections, they were totally nude usually, there was some thrusting and cum shots. Also male & female oral sex. So, I'm thinking about this when I'm watching a couple vintage movies the other day - one was with Nick Niter & David Cannon, David is fucking this chick and the scenes are switching back and forth, Nick is getting a BJ almost fully clothed on a couch. At one point, the scene shows David making ONE thrust and it switches to Nick, back to Davd - two thrusts or three, back to Nick, DAvid cums, no more NIck (who obviously not shown cumming). In another film, Alan Adrian screws a chick, from the moment of first penetration to him climaxing on her butt, the entire scene is 45 seconds and half of that is showing the girls face presumably in ecstasy. So, I think you can see from these movies and many others why I ask the question why so little screwing? The new movies show tons of it, but the both the girls and guys are so shaved and plucked, often unmasculine and unfeminine it isn't nearly as interesting. Thanks for any opinions. I think you're watching the wrong films. I can quote any number of films from the 70s and 80s that were 'wall to wall'. Check out 1989's The Big Thrill (well, give it a few minutes to get started, but when it does...) Or how about the obscure 1975 effort Coming Home Baby.
Or... Some had more plot, some had less. But most actually did (unlike what you'd find today). If you don't want dialogue, why not just go to the loop carriers, like Lusty Ladies, or Erotic Dimensions, or Limited Edition, or Swedish Erotica, or...

Well, I'm all ears as to the movies with more sex, so I will try to find those two you mentioned. I'm afraid I gave the wrong idea - I don't mind the story or the plot or dialogue at all. In fact I rather like it mostly; since much of the new stuff looks like it cost $1.95 to make there is so little set, no plot, no fancy clothes - everyone is in jeans and a t-shirt etc. I just want to see the action when it does occur! Will post again when and if I find those movies.
But for the record, I've seen hundreds like I"ve described. Still, do you have any idea why they did the short sex scenes? Poor editing maybe? I just watched a new porn by Axel Braun "Cougar Prowl" - it is amazing, the guy makes maybe 300 thrusts before they even take the camera to another angle. It gets a bit closer and a bit further, but it is not a re-looping of the same thrusts. Thanks again, and I look forward to more titles to search for. |

I found "Coming Home Baby" absolutely excellent! There is only one scene that doesn't have a cum shot. I thought there were two, but the first scene finishes up at the end. Seriously, send more titles like this! THANK YOU SO MUCH. Unable to get "The Big Thrill."

There are fashions in film making as well as any other human activity. In the U.S. those fashions were guided by obscenity prosecutions in the 1960s and 1970s, but very little since. One court decision in the mid-1960s listed the duration of screen time as a guide for sex scenes--Anything goes for less than a second, naked breasts for two seconds, and so forth. That led to the editing absurdities you mentioned--1/2 second of pussy sex, 3/4 second of blowjob, back to 3/4 second pussy sex, on and on.
After 1975 or so there was virtually no prosecution for obscenity, so fashions have been less controlled that way. But fashions come and go. Prior to 1990 anal sex was a rarity; after 2000 an anthropologist from Mars would think it is how Earthlings have sex. |
