Best / Worst Box Sets / TV Series of current and all time etc etc !.
Hey you can take that bloody look off your face for a start as there are a damn sight worse GD topic threads in this section ok , and i should know , i started most of them !
See what we have here revered fellow members is a thread for you to say which box sets you think are great and well worth purchasing , along with which ones you feel were rank and better off avoided Also this thread covers ALL possible box sets through ALL possible genres I`m telling you folks this threads got legs Speaking of legs i`ll kick this off with one of the best box sets i ever bought Now for the life of me i couldn't tell you exactly what it was about , except it has a hero you'd quite easily wish dead (Or at least deader) and a comedy foil who`d be funnier shot out into space .Also some piss poor acting , virtually no true story to speak of and the effects are kinda cheap looking for today and were even back then So why do i recommend it ? Eva Habermann That`s why Or should i say A 19 year old Eva Habermann That`s why She makes the show brilliant , in fact she makes the show full stop ,as her presence in any of it`s pointless scenes lifts them to the heights of wonder and delight Especially a certain scene where she takes a shower Also season ones movie box set has some pretty excellent co-stars including Rutger Hauer as a nervy drugged out pervy and Malcom Mcdowell as er , well i`m not sure who he was but that`s not important right now No what is important is that you now know one of the best box sets you could ever buy So onto one to avoid Which sadly is Season 2 of Lexx and every season there after , as sure Eva appeared in the first couple of episodes but she`d lost a load of weight and seemed unhappy Not surprising really as she`d made the show extremely popular yet had been really badly let down and kept hanging on by the producers Anyway in my opinion the seasons after the first are some of the worst examples of how a couple of stupid producers can let success go to their heads Still enough moaning about their mistakes as at least they helped bring To my avid attention http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxuUbizTVXM So let`s hear your favourite and least liked Box Sets , but try to make the contribution interesting and put at least a modicum of effort and thought into any posts please

I bought both seasons of "The Monkees" from Australia (fortunately, I have an all region player). These sets are great. In addition to all the episodes, you get commentaries from all four Monkees, Bob Raefelson and James Frawley. You also get "33 and 1/3 Revolutions per Monkee" (an hour special from '69), the unaired pilot, Kelloggs commercials and a lot more. Here's the kicker: I paid only fourteen bucks apiece plus shipping. Whatta bargain!

Dunno if you'd really class them as box-sets (although they do have 4 discs in each), but the extended versions of the Lord of the Rings trilogy are superb; to me they're what DVDs are all about - full of excellent special features and documentarys.
Oh, and yeah - Lexx season one was very enjoyable, and mainly for Eva. Weird, yes, but fun |

Xena - Warrior Princess - guilty pleasure maybe but I guess I must like it as I have 2 different complete sets of this series. |
