Here's my little girl, Sadie. Ok, well, she's not so little, gotta be around 100lbs. now. I was there when she was born, on Christmas Eve, at my brother's house. She was no bigger than an eggplant, kinda purple and shiny too. At first, I wasn't going to get a puppy. Every weekend when I saw the herd, they kept getting cuter. Plus, this one stuck out of the group. She had this funny little howl when she saw me. At the 8 week mark, just before the first couple was due to come look at the puppies, I caved in.

For the first 5 years, she never left my side. She came to work with me, spent hours in my truck with me plowing snow, and went to see her dwindling family every weekend. Now its just her father and sister left. My brother and I wept like a babies the day her mother died. Which makes me fear the day I lose her. Now, she stays home during the day since I switched jobs. But, I still get a big howl when I walk in the door.

Euphrates Cato, (see avatar) an 8 year old female long haired Javanese. The avatar photo is misleading: she only weighs 3.5 pounds. Unquestionably the smartest non-primate I've ever seen.
Just one example: she regularly fishes my motorcycle keys out of the brandy glass where I keep them and then carries them (in her mouth) over to her food dish and drops them in. That way (in her mind) I'll be sure to remember to feed her before I go to work.
If I've been out of the house for too long (I work a lot of 'doubles') she'll hide the keys so I can't leave. She's even smart enough to hide the keys in different places; under furniture, in the garage, behind the toilet. Now mind you, she's NOT playing with the keys and just swatting them around. To hide them in the garage she has to carry them through a cat door: and up a flight of stairs to hide them behind the toilet.

My two died some time ago and the She Devil said she would never have another.

Managed to talk her around and on March 30th when she has been weaned (the pup not the She Devil) we will once more have the patter of spoilt dog wandering around the house.

Photos to follow.

Here is our 5 year old cat, Piranha.

This particular name has been given to him because...

Still, he's not unreasonably fat as he manages to exercise a lot (climbing up trees, hunting and the like...).

I mentioned before on another thread that I once had a pet hamster. "Tiny" lived in captivity for four years. Our family also had a short haired tiger cat named Sam. He was given to us by a family friend. He had grey and white tiger stripes. My younger brother and I got him used to going outside. After he was used to going outside by himself he would climb down the three flights of stairs on the backside of our apartment, and he would explore the neighborhood. He lived only 7 years because he developed this kidney infection. In the 7 years of his short life he killed and ate 18 sparrows and one pigeon.
