Fortunately my five year old granddaughter is only to happy to show pa how to use the latest piece of technology. The mind boggles contemplating what her children will have at their disposal.

It seems to me, others may disagree, that MS is now in the business of offering absolute crap with every other offering. Starting with ME. Go back and think about it. ME was junk. XP was OK. Vista was junk. Then comes Win 7 (using it now) and it works well. And now for Win 8. I've played with it in Beta and my thought is that its a piece of crap. IT depts are not going to pay for relearning the new system.

So, it seems to me, that every other OS that MS offers is junk and to be avoided.

Anybody else notice the same thing?

I've seen similar observations for many years.

I had a few software problems which I mentioned in a post and was given the advice I should always choose 'custom installation'. I didn't bother replying yet as I am not sure the advisor would understand my attitude to technology in general and computers in particular.
My computer works for me; I do not work for my computer. If the rolesare likely to be reversed the only custom installation I shall be performing is a custom installation of the hard drive into a usb caddy and a custom installation of the rest into a recycling bin. Problem solved, change out of one hundred quid, and eveyrbody can kiss my arse in Trafalgar Square before I ever enter the bios again.
