Attention: There is a prevalent email scam happening everywhere where the sender claims to have a password to a site and demands money in some form. Ignore it, do not respond and at most change passwords on any sites you frequent.

Effective immediately, moving or animated GIFs are not allowed in signatures. If your signature has one, please remove or replace it asap. Staff will remove them as and when we see them without notice.

Sincerest apologies to everyone for the recent blackout. VEF and several of our sister forums had a major server malfunction. The database index is being rebuilt from scratch and may take at least several days to be fully restored. Expect major weirdness and lots of glitches in the meantime. Thank you all for your patience and understanding.

Unfortunately it seems that all of the posts made from the 13th March until the crash are permanently lost, please feel free to re-post any such material, apologies for this.

Her advice was to wait until Service Pack 1 came out for Win 10 and, in the mean time, pay close attention to user experiences. All my PC's run Win 7 (I am basically forced to use PC's due to my work - if not I would have gone over to Mac years ago). Win 7 works fine. So, if it ain't broke don't fix it. I jumped in to using Vista years ago and it was a mini disaster. I learned my lesson and I will not be doing any more free beta testing for Microsoft. BTW I have SSD drives in some of my PC's and they are amazingly fast and getting cheaper every day. The days of hard drives with moving parts are numbered.
