The thanks button was not a problem in itself but it was removed intentionally in order to try to find an especially elusive malware bug. The techies are still hard at work so the thanks button may come and go as well as some other features. This may be going on for days.

I think these congratulations are a tad premature.

Not all features are back to normal, e.g. tables are not. That suggests to me that the search for the security hole is still ongoing. We seem to be in the phase where various features are gradually coming back and the boffins are looking which one causes the reappearance of the malware.

If your browser was ever infested by malware (mine had been) and you narrowed it down to the plugins, but you do not know which one, then the standard advice is to first switch them all off, if the bad behaviour vanishes bring half of them back to life, check again, etc. I suppose in this case, with the forum remaining on-line, the search continues in a slightly more cautious way.

To cut this short: all that seems to have happened is that the thanks-button has been enabled again; the root problem that caused admin to originally switch it off still needs to be identified.

Tables are OK. You only need to edit your posts and save them (w/o changes).
