Big Grin Watching it again just to hear Keaton`s ice cold bastard voice

Now this ,

Certainly isn't a great film.
Is a silly story put across in a pedestrian fashion.
Garcia is San Francisco police officer Frank Connor who`s broken the law in his search for a compatible bone marrow donor for his gravely ill son. There's only one catch. The potential donor is convicted multiple murderer and poster boy for psychopaths Peter McCabe. Who could care less about saving anybody but himself. He sees a trip to the hospital as the perfect opportunity to get what he wants most , freedom.

There`s nothing much to recommend it.
Other than this chaps performance.

Which is why I like it

That's funny, I was telling my wife about this film only 2 days ago after we watched the new Spiderman movie, because it took me awhile to figure out where I had seen Michael Keaton's performance before........

....and it was this movie, which I remember watching at 2am one night in 1998 with my mate Dave*, it's one of those brilliantly generic 90s thrillers that always starred Andy Garcia, or Bill Pullman, or Alec Baldwin

*for ages after seeing this movie, my mate and I would say to each other "Don't be giving me stale cigarettes", in Keaton's ice cold bastard voice.

Ye`Gads Stones it was having watched the new Spider-Man movie that reminded me about this film and Keaton`s bad ass character

Not that he was none too shabby a villain in Pacific Heights either

I'm watching 'Desperate Measures' right now because you were talking about it and I got a hankering to see it again! I should be working, but instead I'm enjoying a ridiculously contrived 90s thriller with a tophole Michael Keaton performance that I haven't seen for 20 years

Lightbulb Pacific Heights earned double it`s budget yet gained mixed reviews and should have done far better at the box office I believe. It`s an excellent story and while Michael Keaton is the lynchpin. Melanie Griffith and Matthew Modine are superb also

You`re right there Mate , contrived it damn well was
Still credit where it`s due. Completely daffy movie premise and mostly unbelievable or not , it has one of the coolest endings too

Just free streamed

Is it wrong to admit I was rooting for Keaton

Thumbs up Haute Tension (2003)

- Minor Spoilers -

One movie I thought that has been undeservedly maligned.

The basic premise is that two girls head out to the French countryside where they are brutally attacked by a psychotic truck driver.

The film delivers all the blood and gore you could ask for, but I also found it full of suspense and excruciating fear.

The main issue viewers and critics had with the film is the twist at the end. Understandable, but if you applied the "unreliable narrator" interpretation, it makes sense, in my reliable and humble opinion!

Wink Sod the story and chronic cliches. Acting is decent enough , effects likewise. What`s most important is for once the villian is Scotch rather than English = Shock horror !

Me too Mate

Now then what do you get if you cross Escape from New York/ Under Siege/ Romancing the stone /Die Hard and Moonraker

This of course

Which got a lot of flack and not much money on it`s budget back.

Only you know what

I actually found it (Once I`d sent every ounce of my logic packing) pretty fun and quite watchable

Butt still
You know that scene when they`re on the acid lake and with barely a handful of feet left till the dock thingie (Sorry for getting so technical ). Granny then decides to jump into the water (For no logical reason whatsoever ) and tow the boat the rest of the couple feet way. Plus rather than climb onto said dock thingie. Wades through more acid water till she reaches the sore instead

Er , why
