Thumbnail sets or link to zip? - Page 2

I am totally with scoundrel on this one!

Amongst other things, I am on a mobile connection, so it is much better for me to see thumbnails and then to download those that I would like. Plus, my computer is an old 'steam powered' one - Windows 2000 - that will not accept anything out of the very ordinary, so zip files are a no no for me. So to, BTW., is Rapidshare! I can get nowhere with Rapidshare, so when I look at a thread I automatically go past anything that is on Rapidshare.

Yeah, I know that much of this is due to my bad, slow,mobile connection, and my computers age, and thus it's my own fault; but even so, without all the the great thumbnails, kindly posted by fellow members, what would we have on the forum ? Just a long series of links....... NO THANKS!

Definitely pref thumb nails, can pick and choose which pics we look at rather than having to download a load and only end up looking at (and keeping) a few.

True - have to admit that the site is more colorful this way.

There's another way to display images though still one has to download I'm afraid.

Instead of just dumping a link,

I've actually selected the best pics and using ImageJoiner created a cool preview of the whole set.

Examples:

It takes quite a bit of time to do it though, so I don't expect anyone following this [COLOR=#D40000 !important]excellent and pretty artistic presentation[/COLOR].

It one of those subjects where because there are multiple ways that people collect there will never be any sort of overall consensus apart from the obvious

Those who use image grabber dont want zips/rars etc

About the only smart thing to do in the current situation is to reduce the number of posts per page to the bare minimum of 5 if loading is a real issue

I don't mind both ways of doing it. If I really had to pick one way, I'd go for some sample pics and a download link. It's also the way I personally like to post; some sample pics and then put a download link.

If people do put up a download link, then the previews have to reflect the contents of the zip/rar. I've had occasions (not from here, though) when I've downloaded a set of pics only to find that the set wasn't as advertised.

Just to elaborate, in my old Firefox I used ImageHost Grabber. When I "upgraded" to Firefox 4, I had to start using DownThemAll.
