Mr Magoo types (but not funny)
Cyclists who ride in the dark with no lights. All the winter just gone London has had a plague of these dolts.
Now more than ever seems it rich to die, To cease upon the midnight with no pain... Ode to a Nightingale John Keats 1819. Only, in the case of these nightingales, they would cease with a great deal of pain, not least to my insurance underwriters. Their widows and orphans can be counted on to demand ''justice'', which means that someone else, preferably with deep pockets, must be blamed for the consequences of the dear departed one's moronic stupidity. A set of removeable LED bicycle lights is so much cheaper than a new head. |

O man O man. What can I say in a few words.
Some Eastern Europeans who have just taken all student jobs, in this area, away over the past three years. Jobcenter reply to loss of student jobs is "do not spend time in higher education is you want a job". Oops sorry not PC. |

Lazy, pig-ignorant, loutish bastards
For quite some time I have been thinking about how the streets are getting choked up with litter. Its a pollution and a disgrace to everyone who does it. I think this is a world wide phenomenon but London always has been especially bad. My particular concern at the moment is beer/lager cans, which people just drink in the street and put the empties anywhere they feel like putting them. The IRA's party trick of putting bombs into litter bins has meant that, all these years later, litter bins can still be hard to find, but that isn't an excuse even where it is true. When you buy the tinnie, part of the deal is that you are responsible for the empty.
Not too long ago, as an experiment, I walked just over a mile from my front door to my local high street, and collected every empty on my route. 155 cans in barely 2000 paces. I filled three carrier bags (another pollution) even after squashing them flat. Some of them were left on the pavement next to empty rubbish bins. Truly the behaviour of oafs and ignorant swine. Another not diisimilar pet hate at present: those idle twats who take the supermarket trolley full of their shopping to their car (probably a 4x4) and then leave it in the parking space when they drive off. Its too much trouble to take the trolley to any of the spaces provided, so they put it where others can crash their cars into it. Tossers. |

I know I'm Pig-sick of this Swine Flu...
I get the drift - it's a new strain of Flu that has proven tragically fatal in Mexico but oddly (and hopefully), nowhere else; it's easily transmissible... Well we survived the last pandemic (I think it was Hong Kong Flu in the sixties), so I'm betting we'll get through this too. But the way the press & TV makes out, I expect the dolphins to pack their bags and leave planet Earth, singing "So Long And Thanks For All The Fish"....

Set up shots
One really irritating thing is when TV reporters interview someone they almost always show a brief clip of that person walking towards the interviewer. I suspect it's more to so with union rules as it is hardly relevant to 99% of stories that the interviewee can in fact walk and talk.

Big companies and direct debits
I changed my ISP in February and despite the MAC code guaranteeing a seemless transition of service both my old (Orange) and new (Sky) ISP's managed to bollox up the payments and took out more than they should. I spotted it on my statements and am getting refunds but you sometimes wonder whether it is deliberate.
DD payments are good news for big companies and the old computer says no excuse means they will often not issue a refund until the following month. Would they be as willing to wait if it was to correct an under payment? |
