Time for pantomime. For non-UK posters, this art form derives from (loosely) Commedia dell arte crossed with buffoonery, slapstick, ham theatre and fairy tales long out of copyright. The stars (loose definition) performing are recent runners up in reality tv shit, winners from ten years ago, one hit wonders that your grandparents remember, just basically annoying twats. There is a story for the tinies, innuendo for the adults, a song that was recently in the charts being murdered, special effects that are not special or effective, blokes in drag costume, either piss-taking scripts that are current/political or misogyny and homophobia from decades ago.
My favourite is an article called "the Principal Boy". Imagine Dolly Parton with the girls nearly out, wearing a doublet that only just covered her gusset provided she did not move, thigh length boots, and slapping her thigh at every decisive speech. I would say fun for all the family but that would not explain the crying and puking;but the kids suffer more. |

They talk of men being women and women being men but with pantomime you've had that for years the woman being the principal boy and the man a Dame in drag-nowadays no-one bats an eyelid, but many years ago even John Inman, who played a gay character Mr Humphries in Are You Being Served? was a dame in pantomime but you didn't have to be gay to play a woman-take Les Dawson - he just used it as a device for comedy but I think Dolly Parton as a Principal Boy would be stretching things(quite literally) even for kids. The most surprising thing is that Americans are now getting in on the act like David Hasselhoff and Henry Winkler-both played Captain Hook in Peter Pan and the one from Sex and the City, Kim Cattrall-Cinderella I think it was?. I suppose this is one British tradition that will be around for many, many years to come and the jokes will still be as cringing as ever like "Go and tell the widow her rents in arrears" "What's it doing in her ears?".

In line for luckiest buggers of the week maybe
Linton railings crash escape leaves police 'speechless' https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan...shire-46578052 Police officers were left "speechless" that a driver and his passenger were uninjured when railings pierced their windscreen. The car, driven by a male who passed his test weeks ago, crashed on a frosty road near a water pumping station in Linton, Cambridgeshire, on Friday. Uninjured .... and you can see how far the railings had come inside the car a few inches either side and the airbag that had helped push the driver back would have been of no use at all. That's a lesson to remember for the future about only drive when necessary when road conditions are bad.

Well, Lake City ammo is considered primo fodder and some of those comments - 15 cents a round? - are from memories that seem to me - stuck some decades ago. 62gr steel insert ammo is a far cry from 55 grain ammunition. I don't even recall it being available for sale 15 years ago. All I saw was 52-55 grain ammo.
I was going more for the shock effect on our English members from the sheer volume of the ammo for sale. I can't imagine a guy trying to move a barrel of 12,500 rounds in his garage. If I was twenty years younger and it was legal in my state, I'd have ordered one just to have the barrel to shock my shooter friends. |

12.000 bullets!! Why does one need that many, exactly? Edit: except as a conversation piece, of course. |
