Do Brits really like American Football
Seems like a lot of UK friends on here. So honest question. The NFL and US Media make you think there is really a fan base and the game is picking up traction. There is always talk about a team moving to London. But does anyone really care about the game. Is it more a spectacle one off event to watch.
I for one do not see it happening. No way the US Football can compete with actual Football |

The problem for American Rugby (that's praise, by the way) is TV coverage over here is very hit-and-miss.
Channel 4 used to do a very good late night show which featured, among others, Mike Carlson. I really enjoyed his summing up of the games and paired with Gary Imlach, he was well worth a watch. I honestly don't know who's got the broadcast rights at the moment. The major problem for the US game over here is Rugby Union and League. They occupy the space the American game would like to fill and are deeply entrenched. The exact opposite is true in the USA although Union appears to be gaining some traction. Whatever, a good game of American Rugby is a joy to watch.

I like the NFL and baseball's kinda fun, it's basketball that bores the bum off me.
Although whether it would be sensible to have an NFL team play their home games in London, I don't know, it might be just the novelty that Brits enjoy. |

I enjoyed watching the Channel 4 American Football coverage when it first started and have followed the Packers results ever since.
One thing I suspect we do struggle with is the constant breaks in play. The rules and OTT analysis we can live with but just get on with it? (This from a nation who embrace a magnificent sport called cricket where we can play for five whole days and not get a result...I know ) |

George from Seinfeld called cricket the gayest sport that exists. Although it's merely historical happenstance and gastronomic necessity that means the players wear pristine white trousers and take regular breaks for tea.
