I do believe you are alluding to the "glottal stop" in examples 1 and 3.

On the subject of regional language..
I was born - and still live - on the Yorkshire Wolds. Folks form these parts are known as a "Wolds Wag", short for "Waggoner", and nickname that has come down through time but originates out of respect for the men of the Waggoners Reserve of WW1.

It is a farming area and farmers, not being ones to waste words generally follow the Yorkshire rule of "Hear all, see all, say nowt". The popular greeting, acknowlegdement or answer is usually just "Aye..." It is a universal thing. When a couple of wags meet on the street all you will hear is a couple of grunted "aye's.."

I love the wide variety of accents, and regional variations and peculiarities that this country produces within its language. Whilst many would like to see us all speaking a standard English, I want to see such variances preserved.

Birmingham and to the west, lots of natural resources - coal, water, minerals, iron ore, clay etc. It all ran on coal, so everything and everybody was covered in soot! The food, too, probably.

Well worth visiting the Black Country museum and taking the boat into the amazing canal tunnels to see the limestone mine caverns.

When I lived around there it was more the Dudley Area. Black Country goes back to the industrial revolution and everything being covered in coal dust, soot and thick black smoke. London is still known as The Smoke in some quarters even now. 19th C Britain ran on coal.

Makes me laugh when they do Dickens Stories on TV.....the sky is always far to clean......back then even the snow was black with all the soot it collected on the way down.

Big Grin British woman who represent the best UK.

Hi my British friends,

Here is my question: Which British model or woman do represent the best the UK style abroad in your point of view?

Katie Price
Melanie Brown
Jerry Halliwell
Lindsey Dawn McKenzie

or maybe someone else.

Change 'best' to 'worst' and your list is about right.
