I have found that many sports are better to watch in person, rather than on TV. Maybe it's a bit of the mob mentality, but when you're at the game, cheering on your team, it's a more visceral feeling. Plus, you're not subjected to the oft-times inane announcers on the broadcast.
That being said, I haven't been to a pro basketball game in well over 40 years, a college game in over 30 and a high school game in 47 years. And the only game I watched from start to finish on TV in decades was the final game of the 2016 NBA Finals when the Cavaliers delivered Cleveland their first major league title in 52 years. I've never seen a professional soccer match in person, but I would love to see a Premier League or Bundesliga match.
