I guess you're still laughing at New Zealand losing in yesterdays try fest.
We're also basking in the glory of beating Ireland in the International Rules series...

I used to watch a bit of that years ago. It always seemed any excuse for the Aussies to throw punches at any opportunity. I believe it got so bad that the Irish were on about stopping it.

BTW. England 14-0 up. I might record the rest and go back to bed for a few hours........and dream of Amber-Dawn Finch.

Thats real Rugby! Union, they are on about the weird game League, got to be the only sport where if you get tackled you keep the ball, oops American football is the same!

Idk what it's like in Queensland and New South Wales. But the union game got barely any media attention. If it weren't for the coach having a spat with the journalist, nobody would've known in Melbourne.

He makes youngsters of both sexes feel that their sexual timidity and inexperience is somehow appealing and even makes them somehow special, and that they can somehow win his love and end both his and their own lovelorn and possibly sexless lives.

A hell of a lot of people of Morrissey's actual age who were part of the Manchester punk scene know that whatever his actual sexuality nowadays, Morrissey had at least two girlfriends before he was famous and his songs are not a reliable mirror of his life.

The obsessive fans, young or old, adulate Morrissey because misery loves company, they fail to understand that 'Morrissey', persona and songs, is at least 50% a comic creation.

and very much one of the reasons they quit touring in '66- the routine of constant touring and playing live (according to Wikipedia, they'd played around 1400 gigs in 4 years!) and the increasing inability to actually make themselves heard over the constant 'white noise' of screaming girls with the amplification available at the time - particularly as their studio work became more ambitious, and less able to be played live on stage by a 4-piece group to any great effect under those conditions.

The recordings of the 1964/65 Hollywood Bowl concerts, eventually released by EMI on vinyl in 1977, and in a remastered form on CD last year are worth a listen to get the full effect- From producer George Martin's sleeve notes on the original vinyl release:

'Technically, the results were disappointing; the conditions for the engineers were arduous in the extreme. The chaos, I might almost say panic, that reigned at these concerts was unbelievable unless you were there. Only three track recording was possible, the Beatles had no fold-back speakers so they could not hear what they were singing, and the eternal shriek from 17000 healthy young lungs made even a jet plane inaudible'
