Problem with CD-R in Windows Explorer
Can any VEF techie help with this problem? I have a rather old disc (but it is in perfect condition) which has been recorded onto a CD-R as VCD format. When I load this into my laptop's DVD slot Windows Explorer recognises the disc and display the index and contents (so I know folders and files are on there and it can 'see' them) but I cannot do anything else with it. The disc consists of about 100 JPGs and a similar number of short MPG movie files. I cannot preview the JPGs and I cannot play back the movie clips - I tried several players including VLC. Also I cannot copy/paste any file onto my HDD or elsewhere. With all of this the effect is the same - the laptop just sits there, stuck on timer. I do have a rather old DVD/CD player which is compatible with VCD so I can play back individual movie clips (or display JPGs) OK there - this does have a SCART connection and I do have a DVD-R recorder so it would be theoretically possible to copy using that method though this would involve a big investment in time as each file would need to be done manually. What I want to be able to do is to copy the disc in its entirety onto my HDD. This seems to me to be some sort of compatibility problem. Any thoughts or ideas? I am on Win 8.1.
