It was premeditated defense. You may have a gun for defense, but if you let someone come up to you with a bat after repeated warnings, you might as well cower in a ball in a pool of your own piss.

Nonsense, they had no reason to confront him, that's for law enforcement; they went there, as vigilantes, with intent. In my opinion. Shooting a mentally disturbed individual is like shooting a goat tied to a tree. I suppose eugenics by plumbum is a fact of life in the Holy Land of Gilead these days.

We have a difference of opinion. Big surprise. People in my country, mental or not, who threaten to kill people - get killed. Just a fact of life.

In California he probably would have lived longer as a bully, in Texas - not so much.

My friend owns a gun shop with an attached range. He won't even go on the range when customers are there unless it is an emergency. He showed me a video compilation of some of the scariest stuff. A guy whose weapon misfires and he is looking down the barrel to investigate. Two women chatting while they are shooting waving a loaded firearm around in the process. A dumbass who brings hollow points onto the range. That release you sign isn't in case someone else shoots you. It's in case you shoot yourself.

The trouble with rights is that they include everyone... even those too stupid to exercise those rights responsibly.

Here is a shooting by a store owner/city commissioner of a homeless felon - who was shoplifting a hatchet - which will probably never result in a conviction - maybe 9-3 for guilty but not 12 people agreeing that he is guilty. Florida - so no surprise.
