SS - GB. Based on the novel by Len Deighton, it's the story of a British detective investigating a murder case in Nazi occupied London.

Watched it a while ago, expecting something pretty good as I had read and liked the novel when it came out in the late 70s. This TV production was simply poor and despite glowing comments from luvvies in Rotten Tomatoes, the general reception was not good. The acting was wooden, the lead character looked and acted like a new age romantic, there were stupid historical mistakes, the sound was dreadful and the ending was strange. Compared to Fatherland and Man in the High Castle using a similar theme, it was crap - IMHO!

I was just looking it up earlier today to see if there is a season 2 and nope, cancelled! I thought season 1 was incredible. It had me at the edge of my seat. Without Jessica in Season 2, I am not interested! |

Something quirky yet good is Monkman & Seagull's Genius Guide to Britain BBC2 Mondays. Part 1 was the North of England. These two very clever lads Canadian Eric Monkman and Bobby Seagull were on University Challenge in a tense final two years ago, created a social media sensation for their appearances and became friends since then. Last year they brought out a quiz book and this time on television they are going around the country discovering great British inventions and creations. Entertaining for the geeks among us.

Getting this right now, all 10 episodes in 1080p.
Maniac https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5580146/ Why am I going to watch this? 1. It's weird like Twin Peaks. 2. It's directed by the Cary Joji Fukunaga, who was picked this week to direct the next James Bond film, due out on Valentine's Day 2020. Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6cDDmk-O5A |

Watching Sharp Objects, Season 1, Episode 1.
That's Elizabeth Perkins. From the 1988 movie Big with Tom Hanks, remember? She was 28 back then. She is 57 now. She didn't age well, did she!! Everyone said she was going to make it big after Big and she didn't - another actress from the 1980's that had a big hit but stardom eluded her. |

Last week I finished watching NCIS New Orleans season 4.
A few days ago started watching Strike Back season 6. Supposedly the show was ended on season 5 back in 2015, but was brought back to life two years later with an entirely new cast. Episode 1 was quite dull, but after that the show got back on its feet and looks quite good to me. And Roxanne McKee is on it. *drooooool* Former cast members Sullivan Stapleton and Philip Winchester make an appearance as guest-stars in the last 2 episodes.

Unfortunately if it is anything like the first series it also included male nudity as well-that was a bit of a shock and it would never make terrestrial television as the sex scenes look too real to make the censors shake!

Took me a while but I was able to get the entire first season of The Deuce plus the 2 new episodes so far for Season 2 in 1080p.
I haven't watched a single episode. Watching 8 episodes of Maniac and 10 episodes of Sharp Objects. I have only played each episode and skip from beginning to end to make sure they all play. According to IMDB: Quote:
