Given that Premiership footballers can easily earn £100k per WEEK, then it's hard to get too animated about these revelations. Apart from Chris Evans, obviously.

Like every job, it is a market - and broadcasting/journalism is a global one, just like football.

Unlike footballers they will need to be fluent in the language if not they are limited to English speaking countries.

Don't feel too sorry for Clare Balding either. She doesn't exactly work full time for the BBC. She also works for BT Sport and, as I type this, she is working for Channel 4 presenting the Women's Euros coverage of England-Scotland.
