On a cool summer evening sometime in the early '70s (I was 17 or so), I was walking along Mill River Road in Oyster Bay with a bunch of other kids. In that group was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen... she had long dark hair and reminded me of Linda Ronstadt. She wore a white blouse with what we called a lumberjack shirt over it, and denim shorts rolled up from the knee.

This lovely creature's name was Betty Jean... (I had to quietly ask someone, because I didn't know her. I won't say her last name, because it's not a real common name, and someone might be able to identify her.) Her friends called her "BJ" - naturally.

Do you know, I can't for the life of me recall why we were on that particular road, where we had come from, or where we wound up going. But I have never forgotten Betty Jean.

I never saw her again, but I still wonder where she is today. I hope she is well.

A girl in my High School who was a year below me. She had blonde hair and was called Kerry. A nice person who wasn't like any of the other stupid bitches there.
