The opener of every post regeneration episode spends half it's time on the character coming to terms with the regeneration and working out who/what they are plus it was a weak plot.

3 Tardis' up. The new Doctor may not have balls, but she has hearts and soul. I think she is going to be the best one yet,

For me, the casting is irrelevant. I just don't like the style of writing these days. All flash and dash and no time to develop a proper story.
And the sonic screwdriver has somehow morphed into a magic wand! Not really sci-fi anymore and definitely for kids. |

Now that more people are discussing last night's episode... I thought Jodie Whittaker nailed the quirkiness of the Doctor perfectly, and if her performance for this series is like this first episode, then Doctor Who is in very safe hands Also liked how Jodie built a new sonic screwdriver from scratch, aka her “Swiss army sonic – now with added Sheffield steel". Definitely a step up from her predecessor's Sonic Shades And Sharon D. Clarke as the plucky Grace O'Brien was a great character, so it was a pity she was killed off in this episode, since the Doctor's companions appeared bland by comparison. Even Karl the crane operator with confidence issues seemed more fleshed out. Oh well. I hope Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole, and Mandip Gill get a chance to strut their stuff in later episodes. I was somewhat underwhelmed by the episode's monster Tzim-Sha the Stenza warrior (aka "Tim Shaw"). I just kept thinking of the Predator (and to a lesser extent the Hirogen from ST: Voyager). And by the way - how did the Doctor survive her fall to Earth? But those quibbles aside, I thought “The Woman Who Fell to Earth” was a decent start....

The New TARDIS...
Not going to mention a peep about the rest of tonight's episode, except that I'm not yet sold on the new TARDIS interior....

Another good episode, again, less about the plot and more about the Doctor and her companions. I found the interplay between Ryan and Graham very moving. I want to see Mandip Gill get a meatier role though rather than just running around being plucky. |

I do find it a bit odd that the various Docs keep whinging on about guns never solving anything, and yet the Doc and all the other timelords were quite happy to destroy/kill almost all of the daleks in the war they had...
