Back in the 70s I think, John Wayne made a film in London called Branigan. One of the fight scenes was filmed at the Lamb Tavern in Leadenhall Market, where I have been known to partake of the occasional beverage ....

I had intended this thread to be about films that had been shot somewhere that had a porn/sex/knee trembler connection for anybody. You kow, something along the lines of 'I had a great fuck on the hill that was in the back of a shot that was in that recent Jane Austin adaptation on BBC3' sort of thing.

Sorry, I don't think too much screwing goes on in the county Civic Center a couple miles down the road (used in Gattaca and THX1138 among many others). Wait, what am I saying, its a government building, people get screwed in it all the time!

The strip scene in "Lock, stock, and two smokin barrels" was filmed in the Lord Nelson which is in Mora street near Moorfields eye hospital. It featured French Sylvie who was a pub stripper at the time, the Nelson shut as a pub a few years ago but the building has not changed from the outside though now it's used as flats.

Thamesmead. All the concrete in "Clockwork Orange" was shot there. Irony upon irony means the place was likened to Clockwork Orange when it was only one third built and it was not totally finished when Kubrick shot Clockwork Orange.
P.S. If you meet a londoner and they say they come from Plumstead. Abbey Wood or Erith it might mean they are hoping you will not know they are scared of the stigma attached to saying the T word

There is a website:

www.reelstreets.com

That lists hundreds of old film locations with "then-and-now" shots in many cases...

The Music Box Steps about twenty years ago. I didn't try to push a piano up them though.

Got a feeling someone here might know. There's two locations I'm trying to find, the first is the venue of The Great British Striptease, the other is the pub used in The World of Eddie Weary (The Mucky Duck). Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Having trawled the ITV Archives, I found out that The World of Eddie Weary was filmed in Leeds and Bradford. The "Mucky Duck" had very distinctive stained glass windows visible, which you can see here;

As for The Great British Striptease, that was filmed in the Blackpool Tower Ballroom, according to an article I found.
