No, the whole imperial system was crap, just like the empire. That's one rerason why the world accepts metric, and not such imperialist junk. The metric system is logical and easy to use

I will never accept the metric system. Measuring gas by the liter at a gas station instead of gallons, or using kilometers instead of miles. See, in America it is very easy to lay out streets. One knows that each long street is exactly one-eighth of a mile. If kilometers were used the streets would have to be shorter, or there would be confusion. And using kilograms instead of pounds, and grams instead of ounces. There would be a stampede of confusion at the supermarkets. Even now most school children in America have to learn both systems, and when asked which do they prefer, they say "the imperial" system!

Shame on you-and for a man who on his own admission worked in medical biochemistry-you would have been up to the eyeballs in the metric system on a daily basis....or was all your glassware mysteriously calibrated in pints? ...your pipettes in drams and cu ins and your laboratory scales in ounces?

The only American convention they got right, is for professional sports teams to wear a white clash colours when playing away from home.
