Rapidshare drives me mental with all the waiting

Never used Filesonic, how it can be worse than RS I have no idea, must be utterly, utterly crap if so

I'm DL'ing a free file from Filesonic now at 22k per second. HORRIBLE. Just DL'd a free file from Megaupload at 2.1MB per second. AWESOME. I have a paid account at Rapidshare but I noticed you can DL a free file every 15 minutes, not bad at all. Filesonic SUCKS for free users.

I downloaded my first file yesterday from filesonic yesterday...initial 30 second wait...then the 189mb file downloaded at between 120k - 200k on my 8mb line adelaide, south australia...

Which just proves what i said earlier...one persons bad experience doesnt always mean everyone else will have one as well

Personally I think there are 2 things that need to happen before hosts will ever be remotely reliable for most users

ISPs need to stop offering ridiculous uncapped plans and freebie periods which do nothing but encourage mass uploading/downloading of material,ALREADY FREELY AVAILABLE,which results in Hosts being overloaded and henceforth mediocre speeds such as 22k

2nd Hosts themselves need to get the hell away from reward schemes.
Again all they do is encourage mass duplication

3rd...users of hosts need to realise when a host starts plugging a reward scheme its only a matter of time before it all goes pearshaped and all your time and effort in uploading will be in peril
The anecdotal evidence of rapidshare currently on the war path deleting collectors accounts backs this up

Better to go for the reliable host on the basis of how they treat uploads as well as downloads
than one who offers you 30 pieces of silver to simply upload everything you can lay your hands on

Very true, however, I've tried almost every day and never managed a single free file off fileschronic. I've used lots of sites and that is the only site I can say that about. I merely call it as I see it. It is THE worst FREE file sharing site of all, in my humble opinion.

Just after I posted last night, I got 200k download speed from Filesonic on about 20 straight files. After the 20, it went back to to 20-30k. Probably my quota for the night had been reached. :-) Today has been 200k so far on 5 files. There's a 10 minute wait for each file at Filesonic, better than Rapidshare 15 mins. But RS free DL speed is 500k-1MB so its faster that way.

I can't vote in the poll: On the weekends RapidShare is total crap. During the week it is one of the best. RapidShare basically doesn't let free users download during the day on weekends (at least in US). "There are no available slots for free users" is basically the message I get.

Overall I guess I would vote ******* worst. But the weekend thing with RapidShare (when I download anyway) is crap! I used to be able to download on Rapidshare anytime no problem so this is something new, last couple of months, consistently.

In my internet travels, I must have downloaded from just about every popular server out there. I have accounts set up at rapid & mega, because at one time or another they were/are free user friendly. I do plenty of posting, so I want people to be able to download free & easy. The only reward I seek from the server is free credits for account extension. I'm not looking to get paid.

Filesonic & Oron (etc.) are currently paying their customers with a cash reward, so they're extremely popular with posters at the moment. However, rapid used to have the same cash policy & it eventually dried up. It will with those servers as well. I don't mind downloading with those servers, but if the post has more than 1 link, I stay away. If the file is bigger than 100MBs I stay away. I don't want to keep my browser open for a few hours just to get 1 post.
