I certainly remember finding a number of live sex shows around Times Sq/42nd St area on my occasional visits to NY back in the early 80s. Try as I might I never found one at home in London. Rumaging around in the attic a while back I found a NY street map on which I had marked the locations of all the porn shops and shows I'd found. I liked the 1's in Amsterdam in a bar & everyting went just crazy. Plus U had the "coffee houses" just next door.

My favorite back in the 70's was the Melody Burlesque....which was om second floor of a building and had a stage surrounded on three sides by theatre type seats. Couple of things made it a cut above
--a frequent spot for major as well as minor porn actresses of the day to do shows
--and during some of the afternoon shows it wasn't uncommon for the power to cut off for about 5-10 minutes or so, leaving the place in the dark during which anything goes

some other spots over the years--

In its last year or so, (I think they changed the name to Harmony Burlesque) they had what they called "Mardi Gras" time with some dancers. At the end of a cycle of dancers, all the girls would come out and anyone sitting in the front row offering a tip could go down on on the girl of his choice. Since the girls went from patron to patron, this always looked just a tad unhygienic to me. I was amazed they didn't get busted although maybe that's why they finally closed.
