British mags in the 70s were harder

I seem to remember seeing stuff in mags in the 70s that showed penetration (at least with dildos etc). I am not talking about illegal imported mags, but the ones produced right here (like Rustler, Playbirds, J of Love etc)

Have I got that right? Did the law tighten up before it relaxed again in the 2000s ?

I do remember some mags being harder in those days,Vibrators,Dildos even Erections shown,There was apparently a moment when HC nearly became legal but it not did happen for another thirty years.

There was no penetration, though the odd pic might have slipped in. excuse the pun) the reason H/C R18 came legal was the internet. It would have become ridiculous.

It wasn't the norm by any means as far as I recall. Sullivan did push the boundaries occasionally during the mid to late 70s, and produced material as shown above, with clear penetration, often under a faux 'sex-education' guise. It certainly made me keep buying whilst it lasted.

Sadly, that was the only example I have of British 70's HC. Sorry to contradict you BB, but given the text surrounding the 'Happy Marriage Primer' (Part V: New Ways Of Doing It) set, it does imply that prior and subsequent issues had content that was equally strong. I wish I had more. It would be a reasonable assumption though to believe that this period of hardcore publishing was short lived.

Generally though, I agree, I have a few copies of 70's Playbirds, Lovebirds, Whitehouse, and Park Lane, and apart from object and the occasional finger penetration, anything stronger has the inevitable 'black star' where it matters. That said, the publishers did still get in pics where prior 'contact' was obvious, shown by a saliva thread connecting mouth to penis, or a very 'glossy' cock near a vagina

That Journal of Sex edition, which quite clearly shows penetration, was a bit of a one-off, and I do not know how they got away with it. They were clearly trying the sex educational route, but even so, I am surprised it wasn't banned. Later editions were clearly toned down, and the name changed to Journal of Love, so I suspect the publishers got a rocket.

However, there was clearly hard sex pictures around in the UK, but not published. Eric Wilkin's excellent book Spank! not only shows some of the pictures he took for Swish!, but also some of the fucking that went on afterwards. They could not have been published at the time of taking: except, I have noticed one slipped through and appeared in the magazine. In the B&W picture in the mag, he is clearly fucking her, and in the book Spank! there are more images from this session, confirming she was most definitely fucked. Sadly, the only image I have of the magazine picture has been dodged to hide his prick. I do have 'outtakes' , which clearly shows them fucking, and also have images of other couples fucking at Swish! sessions. Will post them if anyone is interested, but remember these primarily spanking pictures.
