What movie are you viewing at the moment?

These are four movies that I saw over the last few days. The first one is John Wick Chapter 1 where Keanu Reeves plays a security specialist. Very poor. Awful acting, dull plot and direction. The second movie John Wick Chapter 2, Reeves is now an assassin who uses martial arts and all kinds of guns from pistols to different kinds of semi-automatic weapons to shoot hundreds of bad guys throughout the film. There is not much dialogue, but the action is ok.

The third film is a well done documentary about the late James Baldwin a great novelist and black activist in the 1960's. Narrated by Samuel L. Jackson. It tells of a never finished book that Baldwin was working on before his death in 1987 about race relations in America in the 1960's and the deaths of three great black men who all were murdered: Medger Evers, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and Malcolm X. It has many interviews with Baldwin talking about the problems with blacks and whites in America in the 1960's, and shows scenes of Evers, King and Malcolm X speaking at rallies and t.v. interviews. Excellent film.

Finally the fourth film is the third installment of the horror trilogy that started with a Japanese film called Ringu, then an American version called The Ring about a cursed videotape that when played and watched causes the watcher to be killed horribly by this dead little girl called Samara in 7 days. We learn why it is 7 days during the first and a second film, and how someone who has watched the film can prevent their death. The third film is supposed to be a prequel which shows the origin of this videotape, but it is just another film of watchers being killed horribly and now the film has been copied on a computer which means it can be sent to anyone over the internet. It is very scary, especially the ending, but it does not show the origin of how the videotape came to be made.

No particular reason but I've been watching some military stuff lately; "A Bridge Too Far", "The Bridge at Remagen", and "Black Hawk Down." They were all ok, but "Black Hawk Down" by far the best.

As Jenny Seagrove`s legs aside (Cor blimey gov ) it`s a hell of a dull affair , and not worth waiting six minutes out of every twenty two while the ads run.



Only humour to be found is through Hopkins performance as the theater director . When he channels his former 1981 portrayal of Hitler

Starts off with some Sasquatchus interruptus then goes downhill rapidly it's micro budget stuff with the tattiest ugliest looking critters you are ever likely to partly see anywhere ...... choc full of cliches and really only for fans of bad movies like me.

Caught the hour long radio thingie this morning (Which can happen when you`re staring into nothingness and awake at 3am) . Still sometimes partial insomnia can work out as got to hear dear darling Johnny Gielgud .Giving a right rocking showing as Crocker-Harris in a mightily moving play.
Am a mostly self educated (IE uneducated) cur at the best of times and hadn't heard of this play. So have just watched the film , where Mickey Redgrave takes the role as the dour solemn emotionally dead Latin teacher forced to retire due to a dicky ticker. Film is set leading up to and on the last day of term. Where the reality of Crocker-Harris`s life being a failure finally dawns on him. He`s got a forever unfaithful wife , is the mockery of his students and even his fellow teachers call him names behind his back. All that and despite years of service they`re not even going to give him a pension as the headmaster is a cnut.
No I haven't spoiled anything as the important points are how he deals with these epiphanies ,
and the ending
Found it an excellent movie well worth watching

Get Out. A social satire that is equal parts, thought provoking, funny and horrific. Quite possibly the best movie I've seen this year.

Sorry, Rings is the 3rd film in the American Trilogy.
The one that shows the origin is Ring 0 - Birthday from the Japanese series.

Also note...
Rasen was made & released at the same time as the 98 original but by a different production team who did not communicate with the original films team. Resulting in VERY different interpretations of the material & events.
Ring 2 (99) is meant to replace Rasen as the true sequel.

When I said Finally the fourth film I meant the fourth film of the four that I looked at over the last few days: Ist film: John Wick 1, 2nd film: John Wick 2, third film: I am not your negro, fourth film: Rings.
