I was going to make a similar post earlier as Max has above; but wasn't sure if I'd missed some joke or other that might make my own post look silly....

Now I know I was right in my first opinion, I add my own disgust to that above; though not so eloquently........

You, Max, are well aware that I knew BB and his "problems" all too well through long PM correspondence with him over several years and via several increasingly deranged and upsetting phone conversations in his last months.

As a matter of fact I had no idea that BB's old man was updating his FB page and when I was informed of BB's acceptance of a new friend the other day I was somewhat perplexed.

AS for your opprobrium - you, Max ,know better than most on this forum that I have as least as much 'empathy" and compassion" as the next person .

So, what you're saying is that you know BB has passed, you do know of all the details of his passing, you just didn't know BB's Dad was updating his FB page.

That said, you're prepared to make the comment above about BB faking his demise ? Yet, considering you and he were Mates, you've not left one single post here as a tribute to your mate. All you've left is nothing really, about your Mate. BB held you in high regard.

Think about that short term while I have this thread closed for a while for 2 reasons,
1, Not turning BB's demise into a circus
2, Your own protection.

Don't bother complaining.

Whatever the reasoning behind your post it was ill judged.
Mine was too.
Worse it was confrontational.
I`m supposed to set some sort of example.
Rather than letting emotional feelings get the better of me.
How can I advise my fellow members to observe the rules if I disregard them myself.

Seeing what you`d written coincided with me earlier transferring the many photos he`d sent. Then went through some of his last texts.
Before it all went quiet of course.
Despite the continued influx and noise the forum has remained that little bit quieter ever since.
Yes yesterday was a double B afternoon.
Your post made me angry.
Not least because it wasn't real, and that though I keep it pushed to the back of my mind for the most part. I feel guilty that I couldn't have come up with something. Some plan. Some idea. To get Stephen away from the self destructive path he was on. Goodness knows we talked enough and I listened enough , advised enough. Nothing I said ever took hold for long. But then I`m not a psychiatrist. Not that they his GP or consultant were overly concerned for him from what I could judge.
He was a deeply kind , caring and loyal person.
Who`s problems overwhelmed him.
He was also somebody who loved his banter and rising to a challenge.
Like sending me the bottle he claimed I`d talked him out of opening.



Whether that was true or not can't say ?.
Still it remains a sentimental possession of mine to this day.

My Aunt died from an overindulgence of devils juice and I know for an absolute fact she would have rather smashed a bottle like that than to give it away.

I won't make too many assumptions about your mate, I didnae ken him, but I do know that for any a alcoholic to give up such a fine bottle would have only been for love. That being said, he probably cursed you out for talking him out of it when the urge to drink became too much. Its part of the parcel of possibly one of the worst addictions (legal addictions.... freely available from just about any shop you go into) to have.
There is truly and honestly nothing more you could have done beyond what you did, however sad that may be. My Aunt was denied, lovingly, but ended up drinking fucking drain cleaner out of desperation. The nature of this beast is at times incomprehensible to those that do not suffer from its forked tongue.

As for setting an example, mate you are looking at it wrong. What I saw, as a noobie, was an emotionally charged defence of a pal and not something to apologise for, not even for a supermod.

I hope I'm right when I say that fleetwood's post was misunderstood. Who'd expect that Stephen's FB page would still be updated? Though I'm not friends with Stephen on FB, it's not set on private. Everyone can view his wall. The last post dates back to 2014. Stephen is definitely gone but I still liked the idea in fleetwood's post and couldn't see any intention of disrespect.
